SUMMARY

The Director of HR is a senior-level, strategic leader who partners closely with the COO of MedWiz Pharmacy and the executive leadership team to ensure people strategies align with business objectives. This role is responsible for driving strong decision-making, working with the COO to anticipate and address operational and compliance risks, and ensuring policies and practices support a rapidly growing, multi-state operation.

The Director of HR will lead and continue building the HR function, fostering a proactive, collaborative, and compliant workplace culture. The ideal candidate has deep HR policy knowledge for multiple states, especially MA, NY, NJ, IL, and KY—with the flexibility to address HR needs for staff in up to 20 states. This is a highly visible, in-person leadership position based in New Jersey, with occasional remote work upon request and approval.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Serve as a trusted advisor to the COO and senior leadership, making sound and timely decisions that balance business needs, employee engagement, and compliance requirements.

· Anticipate and identify potential HR or compliance risks; proactively develop solutions to avoid operational disruptions.

· Provide leadership and supervision for the HR department, managing current HR staff and building team capacity to support ever-growing company needs.

· Review, develop, and maintain HR policies and SOPs that meet regulatory requirements for MA, NY, NJ, IL, KY, and additional states where staff are located.

· Partner with senior leadership to address workforce planning, performance management, employee relations, and retention strategies.

· Provide expertise on multi-state labor laws and compliance standards, particularly within healthcare/pharmacy operations.

· Collaborate with the Talent Acquisition team to align recruitment strategies with business needs and compliance requirements.

· Oversee benefit administration, open enrollment, and vendor relationships.

· Drive KPI and trend analysis to deliver regular, actionable reports to the COO.

· Analyze quantifiable metrics to guide decisions on headcount, compensation, and performance management.

· Evaluate the ROI of all HR initiatives by tracking performance metrics and adjusting strategies to ensure maximum impact and cost-effectiveness.

· Facilitate training and development programs to strengthen leadership capability and ensure compliance awareness across the organization.

· Support audits, risk management, and governance requirements related to human capital.

· Assist the COO on budgeting and workforce cost management.

· Perform on-site pharmacy visits to build and maintain relationships with leadership and staff and to ensure adherence to HR policies, state and federal labor regulations, and staffing effectiveness.

Requirements:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

· Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (Master’s preferred).

· Minimum of 7 years of progressive HR leadership experience, preferably in healthcare, pharmacy, or multi-state regulated industries.

· Strong policy and compliance knowledge for MA, NY, NJ, IL, KY; familiarity with multi-state HR compliance for up to 20 states.

· Demonstrated ability to make strategic, data-informed decisions under pressure.

· Proven experience leading and building HR teams in a growth-focused environment.

· Expertise in HRIS platforms and HR data analysis.

Computer Skills:

· Proficiency in basic computer applications, including document management software.

· Experience with HRIS and compliance tools; ability to run and interpret HR reports.

Language Skills:

· Ability to read and interpret business and regulatory documents.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with teams and external partners.

· Ability to present information effectively to employees at all levels.

Mathematical Skills:

· Basic mathematical skills, including the ability to calculate rates, percentages, and statistical data.

· Ability to analyze and interpret data to ensure compliance and accuracy.
