JOB TITLE: ENGINEERING PROJECT COORDINATOR

DEPARTMENT: R & D – RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT

REPORTS TO: DESIGN ENGINEERING MANAGER

Onsite - 5 days a week

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Engineering Project Coordinator will support the Research & Development organization by coordinating engineering projects and maintaining the department's Project Management Office (PMO) tools, databases, reporting systems, and project documentation.

This role is intended for an early-career engineering professional interested in technical project management and engineering operations. The Associate Engineering Project Manager will serve as the primary administrator of the department's project management systems while supporting cross-functional teams through the entire product development lifecycle.

Working closely with Engineering, Product Management, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, and Operations, this position will ensure project information remains accurate, standardized, and visible while supporting the successful execution of new product development, engineering changes, sourcing initiatives, and continuous improvement projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as the primary administrator for Engineering PMO tools, databases, and project management systems
  • Maintain project portfolio, ensuring schedules, milestones, deliverables, and project status remain current
  • Support Engineering Project Managers and Design Engineers with project planning, scheduling, and coordination activities
  • Coordinate Engineering Stage Gate deliverables and monitor project progression through the product development process
  • Generate and maintain engineering dashboards, KPI reports, portfolio metrics, and executive project summaries
  • Maintain Engineering Change Request (ECR) and Engineering Change Order (ECO) tracking systems and associated reporting
  • Coordinate weekly project review meetings, capture meeting minutes, and track action items through completion
  • Develop and maintain standardized project templates, documentation, and engineering procedures
  • Assist with resource planning and engineering workload reporting
  • Support implementation and continuous improvement of engineering processes, workflows, and project management standards
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Product Management, Supply Chain, and Operations to ensure project information remains aligned across departments
  • Assist with engineering documentation, project records, and document control activities
  • Maintain engineering project files to ensure accuracy, accessibility, and revision control
  • Support implementation of automation and reporting improvements using Microsoft business applications
  • Work in accordance with company processes, quality standards, and ISO procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Design Engineering Manager

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Required:

  • Associate’s degree in an engineering or manufacturing discipline
  • 1+ years of engineering, manufacturing, project coordination, or technical project management experience
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Teams
  • Strong organizational, analytical and communication skills
  • Ability to work on-site 5 days per week (Pasadena location)

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, engineering technology or related engineering discipline
  • 1-2 years of engineering, manufacturing, project coordination, or technical project management experience
  • Bilingual (proficient in both English – Spanish)
  • Experience with Microsoft Planner, SharePoint, Microsoft Lists, Power BI, or Power Automate
  • Experience working within ERP systems (Epicor preferred)
  • Experience in a manufacturing or product development environment
  • Familiarity with stage gate product development processes
  • Exposure to project management methodologies and engineering documentation

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Primarily office-based with extended periods of computer work
  • Occasional time spent in manufacturing, laboratory, warehouse, or testing environments
  • Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required, including safety glasses, hard hat, safety shoes, and fall protection
  • Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds may be required
