LAZ Parking is seeking a Senior Human Resources Generalist to support the full employee lifecycle for a diverse workforce within the Chicago market. This role serves as a trusted advisor to employees and operational leaders while taking primary ownership of HR support for a designated SEIU-represented employee population.

The Spirit of the Position:

The Senior Human Resources Generalist supports the HR Business Partner in establishing and maintaining compliant, employee-focused Human Resources practices across the region. As a company devoted to promoting an employee-focused servant leadership culture, the Senior HR Generalist serves as a trusted partner to employees and operational leaders while supporting the full employee lifecycle.

This position will have primary responsibility for one designated union workforce and will independently administer many aspects of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, including onboarding, benefits administration, contract compliance, grievance management, auditing, and employee relations support. The Senior HR Generalist partners closely with operational leaders and the HR Business Partner to ensure compliance, consistency, and an exceptional employee experience throughout the employee lifecycle.

Principal Job Duties:

  • Responsible for understanding, interpreting, and administering Human Resources policies, procedures, programs, and designated Collective Bargaining Agreement provisions.
  • Serve as the primary HR contact for employees and managers within the assigned SEIU-represented workforce.
  • Manage employee onboarding, orientation, and new hire documentation processes
  • Administer union benefit billing, reconciliation, and related reporting requirements.
  • Conduct regular audits of payroll, employee records, seniority tracking, benefit eligibility, and contractual obligations.
  • Maintain compliance with federal, state, local, and contractual requirements while partnering with operational leadership to address compliance concerns.
  • Investigate and respond to employee concerns while assisting with employee relations matters and workplace investigations.
  • Manage Step 1 grievances and support grievance resolution efforts in partnership with the HR Business Partner.
  • Participate in Step 2 grievance discussions and other labor-management meetings as needed.
  • Maintain labor relations documentation, employee files, and HR records.
  • Manage leave administration, including FMLA and applicable state and local leave programs.
  • Support workers' compensation, unemployment claims, and employee accommodation processes.
  • Maintain employee information within HRIS systems, including personnel changes, terminations, and organizational updates.
  • Leverage reporting and analytics to identify trends, ensure compliance, and support operational decision-making.
  • Partner with operational leaders on performance management, corrective action, and employee development initiatives.
  • Assist with recruiting, workforce planning, and retention initiatives where needed.
  • Conduct employee communication and engagement activities within assigned locations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Experience - Required

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 4-6 years of progressive Human Resources experience.
  • Experience administering employee benefits and HR compliance programs.
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Experience with HRIS systems, payroll systems, and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Experience supporting employee relations, workplace investigations, and conflict resolution.

Experience - Highly Preferred

  • Experience administering Collective Bargaining Agreements, handling grievances, and participating in labor-management meetings.
  • Experience administering union benefit billing, reconciliation, and reporting processes.
  • Experience auditing payroll, benefits, personnel files, or contractual obligations.
  • Experience supporting payroll processing, payroll audits, or payroll compliance activities.
  • Experience supporting multi-site operations or large hourly workforces.
  • Experience partnering directly with operational leaders on employee relations, performance management, and corrective action.
  • SHRM-CP, PHR, or other HR certification.
  • Experience in hospitality, parking, transportation, service, aviation, or other fast-paced operational environments.
