This role manages the collection of past-due freight invoices while working closely with customers, internal operations teams, and sales to resolve common industry-related billing issues.

The ideal candidate understands that payment delays in logistics are often tied to documentation, delivery confirmation, rate validation, or accessorial disputesand knows how to work those issues through to resolution while maintaining firm and professional collection practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prioritize collections based on invoice aging, balance size, and customer risk profile
  • Resolve common transportation billing issues, including:
    • Proof of delivery (POD) requests
    • Rate confirmations and pricing discrepancies
    • Detention, lumper, fuel surcharge, and other accessorial charges
  • Coordinate with internal operations, dispatch, and customer service teams to research delivery and billing questions
  • Maintain accurate collection notes and documentation to support escalation, dispute resolution, or third-party collections
  • Prepare complete, well-documented account packages for collection agencies or legal review when necessary
  • Identify chronic late-paying or high-risk accounts and escalate appropriately to management

This role is best suited for someone who:

  • Understands that freight billing is detail-driven and documentation-heavy
  • Can balance persistence with customer partnership in a service-driven industry
  • Is comfortable working through operational complexity to secure payment
  • Remains organized, calm, and professional when managing high-volume follow-up

What Success Looks Like

  • Reduction in aged receivables without unnecessary customer escalation
  • Faster resolution of disputed freight invoices
  • Clean documentation supporting every balance due
  • Professional, consistent follow-up that reflects the realities of transportation billing cycles

  • 12 years of accounts receivable or collections experience; transportation or logistics exposure preferred
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel; experience with TMS or ERP systems a plus
  • Ability to manage multiple accounts with varying billing structures and payment terms
  • Strong communication skills and comfort interacting with customers, brokers, and internal teams
  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent required

If you take pride in keeping freight moving, invoices accurate, and cash flowing, we encourage you to apply.
