Job Description
This position reports to the Human Resource Director at BTD HQ and then the Plant Manager in a matrix capacity.
The HR Generalist is responsible for the administration and/or coordination of the day to day human resource functions at Tipton location. The HR generalist performs human resources-related duties may carry out responsibilities in some or all of the following functional areas: recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, training, benefits administration, FMLA, Workman's Comp and all other functions of an HR Generalist.
Minimum experience required: 5 years of HR or related experience. If not formal training, years of experience increases.
This position prefers a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Human Resources, Psychology or a business field. Manufacturing HR experience preferred. This is a high paced enviornment and this candidate must possess initiative, resilience, and tenancity.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Conducts, and sets up as needed, interviews professionally and sends hiring suggestions to upper management for approval.
- Successfully creates and/or oversees, inputs and or performs the recruitment and hiring process to include:
- Job postings in Paylocity and/or other job boards.
- New hire orientation, paperwork, processing, and reporting proficiently.
- The application and background check process in a timely manner.
- Administers and oversees changes to the new hire packet documents and any other employee and company related forms efficiently.
- Professionally manages the temporary workforce company (Temp Agencies) and effectively addresses any issues related to that company or its associates with the representative.
- Processes necessary communications to employees via systems chosen by the company such as Paylocity and Plex.
- Effectively coordinates part-time workforce as needed.
- Processes and/or oversees attendance tracking (POINTS) and warnings adequately. (Coaching/Corrective Action forms monthly.
- Directs employees needing to utilize the Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA) to the coordinating company if needed and accurately processes all the documentation pertaining to FMLA and personal leave requests. THIS IS IN DIRECT COMMUNICATION WITH BTD HQ.
- Oversees and adequately guides management on disciplinary actions for employees when needed; consulting with BTD HQ prior to delivery.
- Effectively maintains, administers, scans, and tracks all 90 day, 6 month and annual evaluations.
- Document all dicsiplinary actions that would be needed for BTD HQ to process unemployment claims and hearings in a timely manner when necessary.
- For all insurance benefits, ensure all the following are accurately completed and timely: new hire and open enrollment including all supporting documents for dependents; changes (following qualifying event rules when applicable); employee questions and/or problems; terminations from benefits; porting of any insurance benefits after termination; coordinates and oversees the Wellness initiatives and programs.
- Effectively manages 401k enrollment beneficiary form; directs employees to Fidelity on questions pertaining to their account.
- Promotes the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) to management and employees when needed. Assists in resolving employee and management conflict effectively and when needed.
- Accurately manages the uniform program including orders, changes and weekly invoicing; in conjunctions with BTD HQ.
- Executes and oversees drug and alcohol program including, randoms, new hires, reasonable cause, and post accident.
- Prepares and processes letters to employees and ex-employees for multiple reasons in a professional manner. Only approved letters from BTD HQ.
21. Proficiently makes suggestions on improving company policies and procedures and generates the manual updates related to those changes.
22. Processes employee concerns or issues and investigates and researches the needed information to accurately answer the concern or question.
23. Researches and answers any suggestion assigned in a timely manner.
24. Ensures the updates to the company employment posters in a timely manner.
25. Creates and organizes annual employee attendance awards, orders needed plaques (for Batesville Tool & Die (BTD) clocks, and jackets.
26. Organizes and successfully plans employee retirements: luncheons and dinners as needed.
27. Effectively backs up workers compensation administration.
28. Helps plan, coordinate and execute company events successfully
29. Setup, recruit and oversee outside activities to come into the company such as the annual blood drive, luncheons, etc.
30. Oversees or performs employment verifications in a timely manner.
31. Assures company policies are being followed correctly for the department.
32. Professionally maintains a high degree of confidentiality
33. Exhibits a positive attitude and a high degree of initiative and motivation.
34. Provide backup support for precise monitoring of payroll Time and Attendance.
35. Based on company needs has a flexible work schedule and/or overtime if needed.

Once established, communicates these processes, procedures and forms via training to all necessary personnel within the department(s) and/or the company as per the standards.
- Being cost conscientious with decisions in not only workforce and/or labor costs, material and supplies purchasing, etc. but also by submitting suggestions, doing research and implementing cost saving ideas. Ensure you personally, as well as your staff, are at optimum efficiency in all operations and/or tasks maximizing the profits of the company. After implementation, continues to monitor and oversee the project for continual success and if necessary, take corrective action to sustain or meet the objective(s).
- Adequately develop and support mechanism(s) to adhere to the company operations metrics to maintain the five key measures of safety, quality, delivery, performance, and involvement (S, Q, D, P, I).
- Proficiently performs the following various HR related events of an employee: the evaluations for wage and performance; recommends promotions or other changes in associates status; hiring; firing; discipline, etc. Communicates and/or serves as person to deliver any of the above to the associate in conjunction with the Team leader and or supervisor.
- Prepares & recommends job descriptions for each position under their own position, being thorough in this duty.
- Competently makes recommendations, assists in development and adheres to the company policies, issues, and changes. Adequately updates and communicates company policies, issues or changes to all staff.
- Competently has a working knowledge and understanding of related job duties and related equipment within the department.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position responsible for supervising the HR administrative Assistant in the HR Department.

Physical Demands

The employee is continually required to talk and/or hear. The employee is frequently required to use hands for typing and function in the department The employee occasionally is required to lift, bend, twist, push, pull and stoop and must be able to operate a vehicle.
