About This Position

Principal Objectives of the Director of Human Resources

The Human Resources Director (HRD) is responsible for creating and implementing strategic human capital initiatives across the business and its locations. Initiatives must support the quickly growing firm, be scalable across multiple states, and address human capital challenges identified by the business. This position also leads the Human Resources department in all aspects of human resources operations, culture awareness, recruitment, and learning and development. This person must be able to hire and coach a human resources team and also to work with the executive team on HR initiatives.

Requirements for the Director of Human Resources

1. Training/Education/Other

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field, advanced degree preferred
  • Minimum of five years of experience in human resources
  • SPHR or PHR preferred

2. Experience/Skills

  • Experience managing employees in a human resources role
  • Knowledge of all aspects of human resources and ability to respond to inquiries
  • Ability to read and interpret technical, financial, and legal reports related to the HR field
  • Business acumen and strategic vision

Essential Functions of the Human Resources Director

1. Human Capital Initiatives

  • Partner with the executive team and managers to identify areas of opportunity related to human capital
  • Create and implement aggressive growth, recruitment, and retention strategies
  • Work with the Human Resources team to develop training, learning and development, and employee growth plans
  • Identity high potential employees and implement succession planning

2. Human Resources Operations

  • Lead yearly open enrollments and remain a subject matter expert on compensation and benefits policies
  • Implement yearly performance management and compensation systems, providing recommendations to the Executive team
  • Lead the implementation of human resources management systems across multiple states

3. Keeper of the Culture

  • Champion the Milhaus culture of collaborative innovation, an entrepreneurial spirit, and a family focus
  • Collaborate with the HR department to create consistent culture across multiple states and locations through event planning and internal communications
  • Contribute to organizational and space planning to ensure that it reflects the Milhaus culture
