This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Test Automation Engineer based in United States.
The Test Automation Engineer will play a key role in ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of complex applications and services.
You will design and maintain sophisticated automated testing solutions across UI, API, and integration layers.
Working closely with software engineering and product teams, you will help shape test strategies and strengthen quality throughout the development lifecycle.
The role offers the opportunity to investigate complex defects, improve test coverage, and influence engineering practices across teams.
You will contribute to system integration and validation while ensuring testing aligns with security, accessibility, performance, and SDLC standards.
This is a technically hands-on position suited to someone who can work independently while also mentoring others and driving quality initiatives.
The role is fully remote and offers exposure to modern application stacks, automation frameworks, microservices, containers, CI/CD, and AI-assisted testing.
- Define automation testing strategies and plans for products, systems, components, and major modifications while aligning testing activities with delivery objectives and timelines.
- Design, develop, execute, and maintain scalable automation frameworks covering UI, API, integration, regression, and other critical testing scenarios.
- Create comprehensive test cases that address complex workflows, edge cases, failure modes, and reliability requirements, and analyze results to identify actionable findings.
- Participate in system integration and validation activities to detect functional, performance, and reliability issues before they impact production.
- Establish quality-control practices covering regression testing, test data management, traceability, reliability, and repeatable testing processes.
- Ensure testing activities follow applicable security, accessibility, performance, and software development lifecycle standards.
- Investigate recurring issues across test coverage, environments, tooling, and processes, implementing measurable improvements to increase efficiency and quality.
- Collaborate with software engineering and product teams to improve application testability, observability, defect prevention, and shift-left quality practices.
- Provide clear recommendations for product and design improvements based on test results, defect trends, and root-cause analysis.
- Support component-level testing, tooling, and test-data requirements in collaboration with external vendors or suppliers when needed.
- Work independently on complex technical initiatives and provide technical leadership through mentoring, best-practice development, shared frameworks, and testing standards.
- Leverage AI-assisted development and testing tools where appropriate to accelerate test creation, analysis, and defect triage while maintaining quality and security standards.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field from an accredited college or university, or an equivalent combination of education and additional relevant professional experience.
- At least 3 years of experience developing automated tests using TypeScript, JavaScript, Java, C#, or similar programming languages.
- Hands-on experience with modern front-end technologies such as React, Next.js, or Angular, including component and UI testing.
- Strong knowledge of modern testing tools and approaches, including UI automation, Testing Library, API testing, contract testing, and reliable test design.
- Experience testing backend services and microservices, including Spring Boot, with familiarity with build and dependency-management tools such as Maven.
- Experience with container-based integration testing, including technologies such as Testcontainers, and the ability to create repeatable test environments.
- Proven ability to build maintainable automation frameworks using clean code, modular design, version control, and CI/CD integration.
- Strong troubleshooting and defect-isolation skills, with the ability to identify root causes across UI, API, data, and environment layers.
- Demonstrated ability to improve testing processes, establish quality standards, and encourage adoption across engineering teams.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to translate technical findings into practical recommendations for engineering and product stakeholders.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development and testing workflows and the ability to use emerging AI tools responsibly while maintaining code quality and security.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance, including completion of an onsite fingerprinting process.
- Must satisfy applicable U.S. residency requirements associated with the required background investigation.
