As a Senior Backend Software Engineer, you will own the development and evolution of foundational services that support secure financial experiences. You will contribute to technical strategy, improve platform reliability, and collaborate with multiple teams to deliver scalable solutions that create long-term value.
- Design, build, and maintain scalable, secure, and resilient backend services using TypeScript and Node.js.
- Develop and improve distributed systems supporting banking, card management, payment processing, and external partner integrations.
- Architect technical solutions that balance immediate product needs with scalability, maintainability, performance, and security.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to translate business requirements into effective technical implementations.
- Improve system reliability through performance optimization, monitoring, logging, observability improvements, and proactive risk identification.
- Design efficient data models and storage solutions across SQL and NoSQL databases.
- Participate in code reviews, contribute technical guidance, and mentor teammates through constructive feedback.
- Drive engineering improvements by reducing technical debt, improving development practices, and sharing knowledge across teams.
The ideal candidate brings strong backend engineering expertise, experience building scalable applications, and the ability to take ownership of complex technical challenges. - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 4+ years of professional software engineering experience focused on backend development.
- Strong experience building backend applications with TypeScript and Node.js.
- Solid understanding of software engineering principles, architecture patterns, algorithms, and system design.
- Experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and cloud-native applications.
- Experience building scalable distributed systems and reliable production services.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to deliver practical solutions to complex challenges.
- Excellent communication skills and experience collaborating across engineering and cross-functional teams.
- Ability to work effectively in an agile environment while managing independent ownership and teamwork.
- Experience with payment processors, PCI-compliant environments, banking platforms, or other regulated industries is a plus.
- Curiosity about emerging technologies and a commitment to continuous learning are valued.
- Competitive compensation range of $150,000–$187,000 annually, plus equity opportunities.
