Senior Software Engineer, Identity Platform

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Software Engineer, Identity Platform based in United States.

The Senior Software Engineer, Identity Platform will help build and evolve secure, scalable identity solutions that support millions of users and organizations worldwide.
This role focuses on designing highly available distributed systems that power authentication, authorization, and application access.
The position offers the opportunity to influence identity architecture, evaluate emerging security standards, and shape the future of secure digital experiences.
Working within a highly technical engineering environment, the successful candidate will collaborate across product and engineering teams to solve complex challenges.
The role combines hands-on backend development with strategic technical leadership and domain expertise in modern identity systems.

Accountabilities:

The Senior Software Engineer, Identity Platform is responsible for designing, developing, and improving critical identity infrastructure while contributing technical expertise to platform strategy and engineering excellence.

  • Design and implement backend services using languages such as Go, Ruby, or other modern programming languages to support authentication, authorization, and identity-related services at global scale.
  • Build and maintain highly available, secure, and resilient distributed systems with a focus on reliability and operational excellence.
  • Collaborate with engineering and product teams to solve complex identity challenges involving user authentication, enterprise identity, APIs, applications, and machine identities.
  • Evaluate emerging identity technologies, protocols, and security practices to identify opportunities for platform improvements.
  • Contribute to architectural decisions and long-term technical strategies for identity infrastructure.
  • Mentor engineers by sharing technical expertise, identity best practices, and engineering approaches.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and continuously improve service reliability, monitoring, and operational processes.
  • Influence technical direction through architecture proposals, documentation, cross-team collaboration, and knowledge sharing.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate has strong software engineering experience combined with deep knowledge of identity systems, security standards, and large-scale distributed platforms.

  • 6+ years of experience in software engineering, computer science, or a related technical discipline with proven experience designing, maintaining, and delivering production software.
  • Equivalent experience or a relevant degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Strong programming experience with languages such as Go, Ruby, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, Rust, Python, or similar technologies.
  • Deep understanding of modern identity standards, including OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect (OIDC), SAML, SCIM, WebAuthn/Passkeys, FIDO2, SSH, JWT, DPoP, and related technologies.
  • Experience building identity infrastructure for enterprise platforms, cloud environments, or systems supporting large-scale user populations.
  • Strong knowledge of authentication, authorization, credential lifecycle management, workload identities, and Zero Trust security architectures.
  • Experience evaluating emerging security technologies and applying industry best practices.
  • Ability to influence technical strategy through architecture design, technical documentation, mentoring, and collaboration.
  • Experience contributing to identity standards organizations, open-source security projects, or developer ecosystems is a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, communication abilities, and the capacity to work effectively across teams.
Benefits:
  • Competitive base salary range of $124,000 - $329,200 USD annually, depending on location, experience, skills, and qualifications.
