This role offers the opportunity to contribute to the enhancement and delivery of enterprise-level business process automation solutions using the Appian platform.
You will design, develop, and optimize custom applications that improve operational efficiency and support critical business workflows.
Working closely with technical and functional teams, you will help translate business requirements into scalable digital solutions.
The position combines hands-on development, API integration, testing, troubleshooting, and Agile collaboration.
You will play a key role in maintaining and expanding existing applications while implementing new capabilities.

The Senior Appian Developer will support the design, development, enhancement, and maintenance of Appian-based applications within an Agile delivery environment. This role requires strong technical expertise, attention to quality, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable automation solutions.
- Design, develop, configure, and maintain custom applications using the Appian platform.
- Enhance existing Appian solutions and implement new features based on evolving business requirements.
- Collaborate with functional teams, architects, and developers to design effective technical solutions.
- Build and maintain integrations using REST APIs, web services, and related integration technologies.
- Configure Appian components, including process models, interfaces, records, reports, and business rules.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and development activities.
- Perform unit testing and support quality assurance, system testing, and user acceptance testing processes.
- Troubleshoot application issues, identify root causes, and implement performance improvements.
- Create technical documentation and follow software development best practices.
- Support application deployments, maintenance activities, and continuous improvement initiatives.
The ideal candidate brings extensive Appian development experience, strong software engineering fundamentals, and the ability to work independently in a remote environment. Success in this role requires technical problem-solving skills, experience with enterprise applications, and familiarity with Agile development practices.
- Active Secret Security Clearance required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline; equivalent professional experience may be considered.
- 5+ years of experience with Appian custom development and business process automation.
- Hands-on experience designing, developing, and maintaining Appian applications.
- Experience building and supporting API integrations, including REST services and web-based integrations.
- Experience with unit testing, quality assurance processes, and software validation activities.
- Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
- Experience working in Agile development environments.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work effectively within distributed and remote teams.
- Appian Certified Developer, Senior Developer, or Lead Developer certification preferred.
- Experience with enterprise workflow solutions, DevSecOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, SQL, relational databases, and federal government programs is a plus.
- Fully remote position with required availability during East Coast business hours.
