Senior Developer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Developer based in the United States.

This role offers the opportunity to support the development and sustainment of a mission-critical enterprise application serving complex organizational and workforce management needs.
You will provide technical leadership and hands-on software engineering expertise to enhance secure, reliable, and high-performing systems.
The position focuses on designing, developing, testing, and maintaining applications across secure government environments.
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineers, cybersecurity specialists, testers, and business stakeholders, to deliver impactful solutions.

The role is fully remote within the continental United States or Hawaii, with support required during Central Time business hours.

Accountabilities:

The Senior Developer will be responsible for delivering secure, scalable, and reliable software solutions while supporting the continuous improvement and operational stability of enterprise applications. The role requires strong technical ownership, collaboration, and attention to quality throughout the software development lifecycle.

  • Design, develop, enhance, and maintain enterprise web applications supporting organizational and workforce management processes.
  • Implement software updates, defect fixes, and system enhancements while maintaining stability across development, testing, and production environments.
  • Develop and maintain application components using Java, JSF, PL/SQL, JavaScript, HTML5, and Docker Desktop.
  • Perform integration, validation, and regression testing to ensure successful functionality across interconnected systems and interfaces.
  • Apply secure software development practices and address vulnerabilities identified through security assessments and automated scanning tools.
  • Troubleshoot application issues and provide technical support to maintain system availability, reliability, and performance.
  • Maintain source code integrity, version control, and technical documentation using approved configuration management tools.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams, cybersecurity professionals, testers, and functional stakeholders to deliver solutions aligned with operational requirements.
  • Participate in Agile development activities, including sprint planning, demonstrations, and iterative delivery processes.
  • Support software deployments, release validation, and post-production verification activities.
  • Follow government security standards, access controls, and data protection requirements.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including automation, CI/CD enhancements, and application modernization efforts.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate is an experienced software developer with a strong background in enterprise application development, secure environments, and database-driven systems. Candidates should demonstrate technical expertise, problem-solving ability, and strong communication skills.

  • Minimum of 8 years of professional software development experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and supporting enterprise-scale software applications.
  • Strong experience with database-driven web applications, preferably within Oracle-based environments.
  • Hands-on experience with Java development and related technologies, including JSF, PL/SQL, JavaScript, HTML5, and Docker.
  • Experience with database migration tools such as Flyway, Liquibase, or similar technologies.
  • Experience supporting applications in secure government or regulated environments preferred.
  • Familiarity with GitLab CI/CD pipelines, GitLab Runners, and Java version upgrades is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of secure coding practices, vulnerability remediation, and application security principles.
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical or managerial discipline preferred.
  • Ability to meet applicable certification requirements aligned with DoD cybersecurity standards, such as Security+ CE, Network+ CE, CASP CE, or equivalent certifications.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to complete the required background investigation process.
Benefits:
  • Competitive annual salary range of $125,000 to $165,000, based on experience, skills, qualifications, and business requirements.
