The SBA Closing Manager will lead closing operations, develop high-performing teams, and optimize processes that support successful loan execution from approval through funding.
- Lead and manage a team of closing specialists, providing coaching, performance feedback, career development support, and ongoing guidance to maximize team effectiveness.
- Oversee borrower management throughout the closing and funding lifecycle, ensuring efficient execution and high service quality.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve productivity, operational efficiency, revenue performance, and borrower experience.
- Create and refine closing processes, tools, tracking methods, and workflows to support scalable growth.
- Monitor operational metrics, evaluate performance against efficiency goals, and implement improvements based on data-driven insights.
- Ensure all closing activities align with SBA guidelines, internal policies, regulatory requirements, and risk management standards.
- Build strong partnerships with internal stakeholders to identify process improvements and support business objectives.
- Participate in the development of operational strategies, policies, and best practices for small business lending.
- Recruit, train, mentor, and retain high-performing team members while supporting succession planning and talent development.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance team performance, compliance, and overall lending outcomes.
The ideal candidate is an experienced SBA lending leader with strong operational expertise, team management capabilities, and the ability to thrive in a rapidly changing environment.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
- Proven experience leading high-performing teams within an SBA lending, commercial lending, or financial services environment.
- Strong knowledge of SBA lending programs, including SBA 7(a), 504, and Express loan processes.
- Experience managing closing operations and understanding SBA documentation requirements, equity injection verification, lien perfection, third-party reviews, and related compliance processes.
- Demonstrated ability to build scalable processes, improve operational efficiency, and manage teams through organizational change.
- Strong leadership skills with experience coaching employees, developing talent, and creating a culture of accountability.
- Ability to analyze performance data, prioritize initiatives, and make effective decisions in a deadline-driven environment.
- Excellent communication, presentation, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience collaborating across departments to implement business improvements and operational programs.
- Familiarity with CRM platforms and proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Background in sales, finance, commercial real estate, practice finance, construction project management, or related fields is preferred.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, motivate teams, work independently, and adapt to changing business needs.
- Competitive annual base salary range of $82,100–$172,500 USD, depending on experience, skills, education, and geographic location.
