About the Role:

The Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) plays a critical role in supporting individuals struggling with substance use disorders by providing professional counseling and treatment planning. This position involves assessing clients' needs, developing personalized recovery plans, and facilitating individual and group therapy sessions to promote long-term sobriety and wellness. The LCDC collaborates with healthcare providers, social services, and families to ensure a comprehensive approach to treatment and recovery. Additionally, the counselor monitors client progress, adjusts treatment strategies as necessary, and maintains detailed documentation to comply with regulatory standards. Ultimately, the role aims to empower clients to overcome addiction, improve their quality of life, and reintegrate successfully into their communities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Valid Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (LCDC) certification recognized in the United States.
  • Bachelor’s degree in counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in chemical dependency counseling or a related clinical setting.
  • Strong understanding of addiction theories, treatment modalities, and recovery processes.
  • Ability to pass background checks and comply with state and federal regulations regarding client confidentiality and care.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or a related discipline.
  • Experience working with diverse populations including adolescents, adults, and families.
  • Training or certification in trauma-informed care, motivational interviewing, or cognitive-behavioral therapy.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and data management.
  • Bilingual abilities or experience working in multicultural environments.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough assessments of clients to determine the nature and extent of chemical dependency issues.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on client needs and evidence-based practices.
  • Provide individual and group counseling sessions to support clients through various stages of recovery.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including medical professionals, social workers, and family members to coordinate care.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential client records in compliance with legal and ethical standards.
  • Monitor client progress and modify treatment plans as necessary to ensure effective outcomes.
  • Educate clients and their families about addiction, recovery processes, and relapse prevention strategies.
  • Stay current with developments in addiction counseling and participate in ongoing professional development.
