About This Position
Position Description: The Career Readiness Instructor (Part-Time) provides workforce training support classes to Restore Education students in person and online. The Career Readiness Instructor (Part-Time) facilitates data-driven blended basic reading, mathematics, language, and contextualized learning for students in the workforce training programs.
Supervisor: Director of Instruction
Status: Exempt, Part-Time
Schedule: Daytime and Evening Shifts are Available.
Responsibilities
Assist the Director of Instruction in planning a program of study that meets the adult learners college level Math and RLA needs.
Use a variety of instructional methods and techniques in the classroom, including individual tutoring, to achieve required benchmarks and present material in an engaging and effective manner to meet the students needs.
Create and teach CCRS Math and Reading lesson plans for workforce readiness that align with TX AEL Content Standards 2.0 for college-bound students.
Create and instruct contextualized curriculum to include workforce/workplace skills and industry-related material, if applicable.
Enter required student data such as contact information, case notes, or test results into a database.
Use effective retention strategies such as relationship building, regular student contact, and goalsetting activities, etc. so that students persist in the program.
Ensure relevant program outcomes are achieved and tracked, as directed.
Promote students successful completion of class and program and communicate barriers quickly and concisely.
Willingness to learn and assist with career readiness material development
Attend monthly departmental meetings and attend a minimum of 15 hours of professional staff development every program year as required by agency contracts.
Support students with information on who to contact regarding technical issues.
Function within the policies and administrative procedures of the organization in addition to state and federal laws.
Accomplish other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
Bachelors Degree required, Masters Degree preferred.
Strong ability to instruct and tutor in Math and RLA at College, Career Readiness Standards, or the university level.
A minimum of 1 year of teaching experience.
Experience teaching in class and online.
Knowledge and Skills
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Highly Skilled in interpersonal relationships with students and adults in leadership, management, teaching, counseling and/or other professional positions.
Able to teach online via Zoom video conferencing, Google Classroom, and use Remind App.
Ability to present an image of confidence and professionalism in appearance and attitude.
Ability to engage students to recognize their talents and create or awaken a desire to achieve.
Knowledge of advising/counseling techniques and procedures.
Ability to organize work, set priorities, coordinate workload, handle multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines.
Knowledge of developing students motivation and building self-efficacy
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of information and data gathered from work with students.
Ability and experience in handling and leading diverse student populations and creating a fun, engaging learning environment.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff and those contacted in the course of work.
Willingness to learn about career success core concepts and assist with the development of deliverables.
Schedule: Daytime and Evening Shifts are Available including Saturdays. Hours are subject to change and not to exceed 30 hours per week. Course planning time negotiable with direct supervisor.
Estimated Hourly Rate: $19.00 - $23.00 per hour
*This position is grant funded. Although the grant is expected to end, additional funding might be obtained to extend the grant beyond the end date. If that would occur, your employment under the grant might also be extended. However, all employment is considered at will and may be terminated by you or the agency at any time regardless of the grant's end date.

LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES
Must possess a valid Class C Texas Drivers License or obtain a valid Class C Texas Drivers License within thirty (30) days after becoming a resident of the State of Texas.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Physical requirements include visual acuity, speech and hearing, hand and eye coordination and manual dexterity necessary to operate a computer keyboard and basic office equipment. Subject to sitting,
standing, bending, twisting, and walking to perform the essential functions.
