Health Information Specialist II in San Antonio, Texas at University Health System- San Antonio

POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direct supervision of the Health Information Management (HIM) Manager, and Team Lead, the Health Information Specialist II performs specialized health information duties necessary to organize, maintain and use the electronic health record consistent with the health record policies and standards. Performs assigned duties at an advanced level of a Health Information Specialist I. Follows strict confidential guidelines. Complies with all Federal and State regulations, bylaws, and accrediting bodies, including but not limited to HIPAA and the Joint Commission. It contributes to the overall success of the Health Information Management team.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Associate Degree in Health Information Management or a related field (business, healthcare, etc.) is strongly preferred. Two years of health care experience in a health care environment with an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) is required. One year of strong customer service experience is required. Experience in a large health care facility is preferred.
