Role Description
As a key member of our People team, the People Operations Generalist is responsible for the execution of tactical initiatives that span the entire employee life cycle. Reporting to the SVP People, you will act as a key operational partner, handling the essential day-to-day HR workflows. You'll champion the onboarding and offboarding journey, maintain HR systems, benefits administration, and serve as the primary point of contact for employee queries, all while leveraging modern tools and creative solutions to nurture a positive workplace culture.
Key Responsibilities
1. Benefits Administration
- Administer employee benefits programs including health, dental, vision, retirement, and supplemental benefits
- Act as the primary point of contact for employee benefits questions and support
- Manage benefits enrollments, life events, changes, and terminations
- Coordinate with benefits brokers, vendors, and payroll providers
- Manage leaves of absence and workers' compensation claims.
- Ensure accuracy of benefits data across HR and payroll systems
- Support planning and execution of annual open enrollment
- Maintain compliance with applicable local, state, and federal benefits regulations
2. Employee Lifecycle Management
- Provide high-impact recruiting support during peak hiring periods, including interview scheduling and candidate coordination.
- Own the end-to-end onboarding experience, including program design and orientation delivery, to ensure all new hires are seamlessly integrated into Recom’s culture, systems, and teams.
- Ensure all new hires are accurately configured in HR, payroll, and benefits platforms, and conduct the processing of all I-9 verifications.
- Partner with hiring managers to ensure a smooth and consistent ramp-up experience
- Coordinate immigration and visa processing for international hires as needed.
- Manage the full offboarding process, including final pay coordination, employee documentation, system access removal, and equipment retrieval.
- Facilitate the onboarding and offboarding lifecycle for offshore contractors within the Deel platform; act as the primary point of contact for offshore queries and coordinate closely with hiring teams to ensure a seamless contractor experience.
3. HR Operations
- Serve as the initial point of contact for employee inquiries, escalating complex issues to the SVP People
- Maintain the Rippling HRIS, ensuring data integrity for all employee records and reporting.
- Leverage AI tools to automate repetitive administrative tasks and continuously explore new AI use cases to enhance People team productivity.
- Assist with the annual performance review process and compensation cycles.
- Create and design an HR intranet space via ClickUp and maintain the "People Ops Playbook," documenting all SOPs.
- Assist in the rollout and implementation of training and upskilling initiatives.
- Supports compliance audits, reporting, and internal documentation as needed
- Oversees the filing of annual compliance reports (EEO-1, etc.) and maintains all labor law posters and required filings.
- Stay current on HR trends and bring forward ideas to improve processes, systems, and employee experience.
- Undertake various administrative tasks and ad hoc duties in support of the People team's objectives, demonstrating adaptability and a willingness to contribute to the team's success.
4. Engagement & Culture
- Seek out creative solutions to enhance employee engagement and morale, contributing positively to the overall team dynamic.
- Assist in monitoring employee engagement through surveys and feedback loops; propose and implement initiatives to improve retention.
- Develop initiatives to strengthen engagement, recognition, and retention.
5. Office & Facilities Operations
- Oversee the physical office environment to ensure a productive, welcoming, and safe space for on-site employees
- Partner with on-the-ground leads at each office to execute local facilities tasks and ensure company-wide processes are followed.
- Support office safety protocols, emergency planning, and manage office access/security needs.
Qualifications
- 5 to 7 years of progressive HR experience, preferably in a Generalist or People Ops role; e-commerce, retail, or manufacturing experience is helpful
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
- Hands-on experience with Rippling and ClickUp is strongly preferred.
- Experience using Generative AI (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude) or built-in AI assistants to enhance productivity and document creation is a significant plus
- Strong functional knowledge of benefits administration, leave of absence, and workers compensation
- Proactive, solutions-oriented mindset - you identify programs before they’re problems with a proven track record of building and executing HR programs with measurable impact.
- Strong project management skills - you can juggle multiple priorities without dropping details and prioritizing effectively to meet deadlines
- Strong proficiency in employment law and federal regulations (FMLA, ADA, EEO, FLSA), with a commitment to staying updated on industry trends and best practices
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with a high degree of empathy
- Ability to handle sensitive employee matters and data with total confidentiality
