Job Summary

The Market Analyst position is part of the Analyst Team within Second Avenue’s Asset Management group, which is responsible for the underwriting and due diligence of acquisitions of single-family homes, as well as revenue and portfolio management for Second Avenue’s clients. This position will be primarily focused on analyzing, underwriting, and modeling the acquisition of homes via both on-market and off-market acquisitions channels to ensure acquisition targets are maximizing return potential for Second Avenue’s Investors. This position reports to the Managing Director of Asset Management and is located in the Chicago office.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Analyze, underwrite, and model potential acquisitions via both on-market (MLS) and off-market (wholesalers, small investors, builders) channels.

• Complete comparable market analyses and estimate market rents and sales values for acquisition targets and properties under management.

• Complete all required market and property level due diligence, utilizing company provided systems, resources, and checklists.

• Communicate effectively with other departments and agents as needed.

• Adhere to deadlines and meet or exceed goals / KPIs set in collaboration with the Acquisitions & Analysts Team.

• Research and analyze new markets for expansion.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Underwriting experience preferred.

• Proficient with Excel and PowerPoint.

• Applicants must have strong analytical and quantitative skills.

• Strong interpersonal/communication skills.

• Ability to collaborate and work in a team environment.

• Must thrive in a high-pressure environment with the ability to multi-task and prioritize competing tasks and meeting deadlines.

• Highly organized with strong attention to detail.

• Team player – energetic, enthusiastic, and personable with the ability to collaborate and work independently.

Education and Experience

• Must have Bachelor Degree in finance, real estate, business administration, economics, or related field

• 1-2 years of real estate investment, investment banking or investment research experience preferred.

Job Competencies

• Proven ability to be self-starter that thrives in a team environment.

• Analytical mindset with a focus on detail.

• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.

• Experienced MS Office user; highly proficient with Excel, PowerPoint, and related software platforms.
