Schedule (School Year)
Monday–Thursday
Morning Arrival Coverage: 7:15 AM–8:45 AM
Lunch/Cafeteria Coverage: 10:00 AM–2:00 PM
Afternoon Dismissal Coverage: 2:15 PM–3:45 PM
Hours: Approximately 28 hours per week
Position Summary
Lincoln Leadership Academy Charter School (LLACS) is seeking caring, dependable, and safety-focused individuals to join our team as Lunch Monitors and Crossing Guards.
This position plays an essential role in creating a safe, orderly, and welcoming environment for students throughout the school day. The successful candidate will support student arrival, lunch periods, and dismissal by supervising students, promoting positive behavior, ensuring pedestrian safety, and modeling the character values that define the LLACS community.
This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with children, contributing to a positive school culture, and supporting the mission of developing the mind, heart, and hands of every student.
Essential Responsibilities
Student Arrival and Crossing Guard Duties
Safely assist students, families, and pedestrians in crossing designated streets and intersections before school.
Monitor and direct pedestrian traffic while following established safety procedures.
Promote safe crossing practices and reinforce pedestrian safety expectations with students.
Observe vehicle traffic and assist with maintaining an orderly arrival process.
Maintain a visible, attentive, and professional presence at assigned crossing locations.
Communicate courteously with students, families, visitors, and staff.
Report unsafe conditions, traffic concerns, accidents, or incidents to school administration.
Assist with student supervision in arrival areas as needed.
Lunch Monitor Duties
Supervise students during assigned lunch periods to ensure a safe, respectful, and orderly environment.
Build positive relationships with students while modeling kindness, patience, respect, and professionalism.
Reinforce LLACS expectations for appropriate behavior, responsibility, and cafeteria etiquette.
Monitor lunch lines, seating areas, hallways, and student movement during lunch transitions.
Assist students with opening food containers or addressing age-appropriate needs when necessary.
Encourage students to clean their eating areas and demonstrate responsibility.
Wipe and sanitize cafeteria tables between lunch periods.
Sweep floors and help maintain a clean and welcoming cafeteria environment.
Communicate concerns regarding student behavior, safety, or health to appropriate administrators.
Work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, cafeteria staff, and support personnel.
Assist with additional student supervision or school operations duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED.
Experience working with children or in a school setting preferred but not required.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to establish positive relationships with students while maintaining appropriate supervision.
Dependable, punctual, and able to work independently.
Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in busy school and traffic environments.
Ability to interact respectfully with students, families, staff, and community members.
Must successfully obtain and maintain all required Pennsylvania background clearances.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Ability to work indoors in a cafeteria environment and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Ability to bend, reach, stoop, and lift up to 25 pounds occasionally.
Ability to communicate clearly with students, pedestrians, and motorists.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with moderate noise levels.
