Summary:
The Payroll Clerk is responsible for supporting the accurate and timely processing of payroll for hourly employees at Giti Tire Manufacturing. This position reviews and verifies employee timekeeping records, processes bi-weekly payroll, performs payroll reconciliations and analysis, and ensures payroll activities are completed in accordance with company policies and applicable payroll requirements.
This position requires a high level of attention to detail, confidentiality, organization, and analytical ability. The Payroll Clerk will work closely with employees, management, Human Resources, and Accounting to resolve payroll and timekeeping issues, prepare reports, maintain accurate records, and support continuous improvement of payroll processes.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Review, edit, and verify daily time punches for the hourly workforce to ensure accurate timekeeping records.
• Process bi-weekly payroll for hourly employees in accordance with company policies, procedures, and established payroll schedules.
• Review payroll and timekeeping data to identify missing, incomplete, inconsistent, or potentially erroneous information and coordinate necessary corrections.
• Maintain the accuracy and integrity of payroll systems, employee records, and payroll-related documentation.
• Assist employees and managers with payroll, timekeeping, pay, and related questions in a professional and timely manner.
• Consult with senior Accounting and Human Resources staff regarding complex payroll transactions and discrepancies as needed.
• Assist with internal payroll controls, audits, and the preparation of payroll documentation requested by internal and external auditors.
• Perform payroll account reconciliations and assist with identifying and resolving discrepancies.
• Prepare monthly analysis of overtime, vacation liabilities, holiday accruals, employee incentives, and other payroll-related expenses and liabilities.
• Analyze payroll and timekeeping data on an ongoing basis to identify trends, errors, and opportunities to improve efficiency and accuracy.
• Prepare payroll, wage, hour, overtime, attendance, and other reports for management as requested.
• Utilize Microsoft Excel to analyze payroll information, reconcile data, identify discrepancies, and prepare reports.
• Read, understand, and apply company policies, procedures, and applicable payroll guidelines.
• Maintain employee personnel files and payroll-related documentation in an accurate and organized manner.
• Perform general administrative duties including data entry, filing, document preparation, reporting, and record maintenance.
• Maintain the highest level of confidentiality when handling employee payroll, compensation, personnel, and other sensitive information.
• Manage multiple assignments and deadlines in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Maintain flexibility in working hours and schedules as necessary to meet payroll processing deadlines.
• Serve on employee engagement and other company committees as assigned.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives related to payroll, timekeeping, reporting, and administrative processes.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience:
• Associate degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Human Resources, Finance, or a related field preferred.
• Equivalent combination of education and relevant payroll, accounting, administrative, or Human Resources experience may be considered.
• Previous payroll, timekeeping, accounting, or HR administrative experience preferred.
• Previous manufacturing payroll experience is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Previous experience using ADP payroll and/or timekeeping systems is a plus.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to analyze payroll and timekeeping data.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to effectively communicate with employees and all levels of management.
• Strong organizational, planning, and time-management abilities.

• Ability to generate, analyze, and interpret payroll and management reports.

• Ability to adapt to changing priorities, processes, and business needs.
• Ability to remain professional and composed in stressful situations.
Physical Requirements:
• Sit for extended periods while performing payroll and administrative duties.
• Occasionally stand, walk, bend, reach, and move throughout the facility.
• Use hands and fingers to operate computers, calculators, office equipment, and filing systems.
• Communicate effectively in person, by telephone, and through electronic communication.
• Occasionally travel throughout the plant to collect information, resolve timekeeping issues, or follow up with employees and managers.
Work Environment:
• Office environment with frequent interaction with employees, management, Human Resources, Accounting, and other departments.
• Work is performed within a manufacturing facility and may occasionally require entering industrial production areas.
• Exposure to production areas may include noise, moving equipment, and manufacturing processes.
• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required when entering designated production areas.
• Flexibility in working hours may be required to ensure payroll deadlines are met.
