Creative Services Designer, Playables

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Creative Services Designer, Playables based in the United States.

This role is an exciting opportunity for a creative game designer to shape interactive playable ads that capture attention and drive player acquisition.
You will design and prototype mini-game concepts, contribute to level design, and bring ideas to life through Unity implementation and 3D asset creation.
Working within a fast-paced mobile publishing environment, you will collaborate closely with artists, engineers, producers, marketing teams, and creative leadership.
Your work will directly influence how players experience and engage with games before deciding to download them.
You will combine strong visual design instincts with gameplay thinking, rapid iteration, and insights from user acquisition performance data.
The role also encourages experimentation with AI-powered creative tools to accelerate ideation, iteration, and production workflows.
This is a six-month remote contract suited to a hands-on designer who enjoys owning creative concepts from initial mockup through implementation and testing.

Accountabilities:
  • Rapidly conceptualize, design, and create mockups for mini-games and playable ad experiences that can be implemented, tested, and optimized for user acquisition.
  • Support level design and playable development by defining game layouts, player interactions, pacing, themes, and key creative beats.
  • Contribute to 3D asset creation and optimization, including modeling, rigging, topology cleanup, and preparation of assets for playable experiences.
  • Collaborate closely with artists, engineers, producers, product marketing, creative leadership, and other stakeholders to translate concepts into polished playable outputs.
  • Provide clear creative feedback and implementation guidance to ensure playable ads meet visual, gameplay, and performance objectives.
  • Use stakeholder, peer, user acquisition, and player-performance feedback to rapidly iterate on concepts and improve creative effectiveness.
  • Analyze playable performance and user data to inform design recommendations, future concepts, player interactions, and creative direction.
  • Develop recommendations around themes, gameplay mechanics, visual presentation, and interaction patterns for future playable campaigns.
  • Work closely with marketing and creative leadership to develop and execute playable advertising campaigns.
  • Explore and apply AI-assisted creative tools to accelerate concept development, iteration, asset creation, and overall playable production workflows.
Requirements:
  • 3+ years of experience working with Unity, Unreal Engine, HTML-based games, or comparable game development environments.
  • 3+ years of experience with 3D content creation tools such as Maya, Blender, ZBrush, Substance, or similar digital content creation software.
  • 3+ years of hands-on 3D modeling experience, including rigging, topology cleanup, asset optimization, and preparing assets for game environments.
  • Demonstrated experience with level design, art layout, UI, gameplay pacing, and interactive game experiences.
  • A portfolio showcasing level design and 3D modeling capabilities, preferably including playable ads, casual games, or mobile game experiences.
  • Understanding of user acquisition mini-games and the role of playable advertising in driving engagement and game downloads.
  • Experience with casual, hyper-casual, midcore, or hybrid-casual gaming environments.
  • Strong understanding of the current mobile gaming market, particularly within midcore and hybrid-casual segments.
  • Excellent oral, visual, and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate creative concepts and provide actionable feedback.
  • Strong collaboration and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-moving, cross-functional environment.
  • Critical thinking, empathy for players, and a strong ability to turn creative and performance insights into practical design recommendations.
  • Familiarity with emerging AI-assisted creative tools, or demonstrated enthusiasm for learning how AI can enhance art and game-design workflows.
  • Knowledge of 4X strategy games and/or mobile gaming is a plus.
  • Familiarity with the Game of Thrones or House of the Dragon franchises is a plus.
Benefits:
  • $46/hour on W-2.
  • Six-month contract opportunity.
  • Fully remote position within the United States.
  • Opportunity to work on interactive playable advertising and mobile game publishing initiatives.
  • Hands-on exposure to Unity-based implementation, 3D asset creation, level design, and user acquisition creative.
  • Collaboration with artists, engineers, producers, marketing professionals, and creative leadership.
  • Opportunity to experiment with emerging AI tools and incorporate them into creative production workflows.
  • High-visibility creative work where playable performance and player engagement directly inform iteration and design decisions.
