About the Testing Lead Position:

The Testing Lead works to ensure successful client implementations by planning and coordinating all internal testing related activities and consulting and managing the client through collaborative integrated testing. The Testing Lead will be a key member of the Avalon Core Implementation Team, focused primarily on client delivery, and in close contact with Avalon IT and business stakeholders.

This position is eligible for remote work, but quarterly travel will be required to Avalon's corporate office located in Tampa, Florida.

Testing Lead – Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Extensive knowledge of health plan operations.
  • Strong technical background, with ability to generate test cases supporting Avalon’s applications, query databases with T-SQL, and invoke APIs with a test harness such as Postman.
  • Strong project management skills: communications, organization, familiarity with Agile and Waterfall project delivery processes and tools.
  • Persistence, assertiveness, and a drive for continuous improvement.
  • Experience supporting a variety of testing approaches, with the ability to independently generate appropriate test scenarios.
  • Query databases to analyze logs and generate test cases, with intermediate-level T-SQL query skills.
  • Guide the client through testing strategy and test case development.
  • Coordinate client and Avalon environment availability – security, data, connectivity, environment readiness and application provisioning.
  • Create/maintain all testing artifacts, including test plans, requirement traceability, and defect management.
  • Enhance implementation materials to support continuous improvement.
  • Testing Lead – Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum of five years of IT experience in some combination of testing, development and project management roles.
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or similar field or equivalent work experience
  • At least 3 years of experience developing and managing business requirements throughout a project lifecycle.
  • Experience in or knowledge of the health care business and customer service.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Access.
  • Experience with use case testing.
  • 1 - 2 years’ experience in reporting, with a preference for intermediate knowledge of SQL
  • Knowledge of one or more of the following areas of health plan operations - configuration, utilization, claims processing, and/or reimbursement.
  • Proven analytical and project management skills, including a thorough understanding of how to interpret customer business needs and translate them into application and operational requirements.
  • Facilitation skills that include workgroup leadership, problem resolution across multiple groups, etc.
  • Willingness to work in various capacities and to learn new skill sets.
  • Testing Lead – Preferred Qualifications:

  • Healthcare industry experience – claims, remittance advice, eligibility and prior authorization knowledge is highly valued.
  • Insight into HIPAA transaction processing on common adjudication platforms is preferred.
  • Experience monitoring endpoints in a cloud-based environment with tools such as AppDynamics.
  • Comfortable in a high-visibility, individual contributor role with the ability to work cross-functionally and with all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team through problem solving and creative solutioning.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver results while balancing competing priorities and timelines.
