Job Description
Reporting to the Manager of Facilities, the Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing general and specialized maintenance and repairs across the property, including routine compliance inspections and preventative maintenance. This role includes electrical, plumbing, painting, and other maintenance duties as required. The successful candidate will maintain a clean, safe, and well-functioning environment while demonstrating integrity, professionalism, and a strong commitment to guest service and teamwork.
Job Duties
- Repair, install, and maintain doors and door hardware
- Perform drywall repairs, patching, and painting
- Complete washroom repairs and perform routine preventative maintenance on fixtures
- Unclog toilets and sinks using appropriate tools and equipment
- Replace burned-out light bulbs and lighting components as needed
- Perform basic carpentry work
- Carry out carpet and flooring repairs
- Perform power washing as required
- Complete general repairs as required
- Assist with casino-related event setup and teardown
- Maintain and service vacuum cleaners and related equipment
- Perform preventative maintenance onall HVAC units
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment
- Follow safety procedures, use required protective equipment, and report unsafe practices or conditions
- Build and maintain positive working relationships with guests, ownership, team members, vendors, and regulators
- Follow all applicable IGCO, BCLC, and HR policies related to the role
- Ensure compliance with licensing laws, health and safety requirements, and other statutory regulations; and
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Secondary school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience;
- At least one year of experience in a related field, with formal training in one or more trade areas considered an asset;
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills;
- Trade certification or licensing in a relevant profession is an asset;
- Excellent teamwork, customer service, and communication skills;
- Ability to maintain positive working relationships with colleagues;
- Ability to multitask and perform effectively in a fast-paced environment;
- Ability to obtain Gaming Worker Registration with IGCO and Serving It Right certification through Responsible Service BC;
- Regular casino and cage environment, requires extended period of standing, walking, bending and may lift up to 50lbs
- Flexible schedule that adapts to business needs, and will have non-traditional work hours including holidays, evening, overnight or weekend shifts.
Work Environment Considerations
- This role involves lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, bending, stretching, driving, exposure to heat and cold, dust and dirt, and working non-traditional hours.
