Job Description
Kids & Company is seeking a reliable, skilled, and self-motivated Maintenance Technician / Handyman to support multiple childcare centres throughout British Columbia.
This role is responsible for maintaining safe, clean, and fully operational environments for children, families, and staff. The successful candidate will perform a wide range of maintenance, repair, and preventative maintenance tasks, while independently troubleshoot issues and coordinating larger repairs when required.
The ideal candidate has strong hands-on experience with plumbing, carpentry, painting, furniture assembly, general building repairs, and basic electrical troubleshooting. They are organized, responsive, and comfortable managing maintenance requests across multiple locations.
Key Responsibilities- Perform general maintenance, repairs, and preventative maintenance across multiple childcare centres.Diagnose maintenance issues and determine the most effective repair solution.Complete plumbing-related repairs such as:Repairing leaking sinks and faucetsReplacing toilets, toilet seats, flush mechanisms, and bathroom fixturesClearing minor blockages and addressing basic drainage issues
- Minimum 3 years of experience in facility maintenance, property maintenance, or a handyman role.Demonstrated experience completing repairs independently.Strong working knowledge of:Plumbing systems and fixture repairsCarpentry and woodworkingDrywall repair and paintingFurniture assembly and installationBuilding maintenance and repairBasic electrical troubleshooting
- Experience working in childcare centres, schools, healthcare facilities, or other occupied commercial environments.WHMIS certification or other health and safety training.Experience with preventative maintenance programs.Familiarity with commercial building systems and facility operations.Experience coordinating contractors and vendors.
- Ability to lift and carry maintenance materials and equipment.Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb ladders, and perform physical repair work.Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
