Job Description
Salary: $4,160 a month
Priority Closing: June 30, 2026 at 5 pm
Under general supervision, the Preventative Maintenance Worker performs preventative maintenance activities. This position performs maintenance on building support equipment such as electrical drive motors, laundry, safety, kitchen and air-conditioning equipment; change oil, grease, change or clean filters, drive belts, shafts, and bearings to ensure proper operation.
Perform emergency or minor repairs of buildings and support equipment
Operate hand and power tools
Open and secure college facilities to meet scheduled activities
Inspect and stock First Aid kits
Perform custodial equipment repairs, as needed
Perform custodial tasks such as:
Clean and sanitize restrooms/shower rooms and fixtures in accordance with established procedures and standards; refill restroom dispensers
Clean white boards; dust and wipe furniture; dust-mop, mop, auto-scrub or vacuum floors; empty garbage & recycling bins; replace light lamps as needed
Stock and maintain inventory of custodial supplies in locker/lockers in assigned areas
Use and maintain assigned custodial power equipment and hand tools including, but not limited to vacuum cleaners, brooms, mops, and squeegees for the cleaning and general maintenance of floors, walls, carpets and furniture and windows. Use of auto-scrubbers, swing scrubbers, burnishers, carpet extractors, power washers, ladders and lifts may be required in work
assignments
Strip, clean, burnish, and apply finish to floors; use floor auto-scrubbers, swing scrubbers, burnishers; vacuum and clean carpets; use carpet extractor, and other floor maintenance equipment
Repairs and replaces door locks, door closures, and exit devices Organize and perform office moves, furniture moves, install cubicle partitions, keyboard trays, bulletin boards, etc.
Monitor and maintain facilities buildings and grounds including additional seasonal requirements (snow & ice, flooding)
Ensures the facilities are comfortable, well-managed, and a safe environment for the general public and employees
Assist with setups and special activities
Operate forklift for Shipping/Receiving as requested
Operate various equipment in snow and ice control and removal
Maintain communications with all groups through portable radios, campus cell phones, telephones, logbooks, journals, e-mail, etc.
Serve as a key role in the College emergency and management response efforts; provides a "presence", either individually or with additional Facilities team members, as needed for safety issues
Perform duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to follow instructions, work independently or as part of a team, and meet deadlines associated with the job
- Ability to communicate in writing and verbally in English with a wide variety of individuals
- Basic mechanical, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and grounds keeping
- Standard cleaning methods and equipment
- Ability to follow proper use of various cleaning and sanitizing solutions
- Detail-oriented and thorough
- Ability to operate tools or equipment used in routine maintenance
- Ability to keep the school clean and orderly
- Ability to interact with staff, students, parents, and visitors at school while remaining professional, polite, and courteous
- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to travel between locations as a part of regular job assignments
- High school graduate or equivalent and one year of custodial or general maintenance work
- Contingent upon successfully completing a job-related background check in accordance with Washington State law
- Two (2) years of experience in a related position
Salary is $4,160 a month
The work schedule is generally Monday through Friday, 3 pm to 11 p.m. A regular schedule will be finalized upon hire. Candidate must be willing to work on-site for all or a portion of their schedule.
This position will receive:
- 8 hours per month of sick leave
- Starts with 11 hours per month of vacation leave
- 24 hours of personal leave
- 12 paid state/college holidays per calendar year
- The vacation leave and personal leave are available after successful completion of a 90 actual days worked probationary period
*Vacation is eligible for cash-out at the end of the assignment.
