Job Description
Summary: The Technical Sales Advisor support MULTIVAC’s sales efforts by collaborating with internal and external colleagues and teams to define the technical aspects of sales projects, proposals and orders. Primary focus will be on food customer applications for product configuration (machines and retrofits) and preparing customer quotations and proposals. Research and acquire technical expertise and utilize it to assist the sales teams to close new business opportunities. Learn, build-upon, and master the competencies necessary for managing a well-rounded sales experience.
Department: Sales, Reports To: Pre-Sales Manager, Division: Pre Sales
Time Utilization: This position follows a hybrid model, requiring at least three days in the office, and includes travel of up to 5% of the time to customer sites. Normal business hours are 8:00am to 5:00pm.. Schedule needs to be flexible to accommodate sales team requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Includes the following and other duties may be assigned:
- Work with the sales teams to clarify customer requirements and document MULTIVAC’s best customer solution. Process assigned RFQ’s and determine best course of action to complete as accurately and as quickly as possible; ensuring appropriate gross margins are maintained. Consult as necessary with support resources, including Product Market Managers, Technical Sales Advisors (TSAs), our supplying factories, the sales team, and engineering.
- Assume responsibility for the configuration of the equipment listed in Appendix A.
- Maintain and update quotation tools as necessary with new equipment and pricing information as they are introduced and/or changed.
- Responsible for the technical efficacy of a sales project from RFQ to shipment. Document product offering in RFQ and final sales proposal/quotation, participate in order clarification with order processors and work with supplying factories and/or engineering to address follow-up technical questions/concerns.
- Collaborate with internal teams and colleagues to identify technical features and capabilities relative to MULTIVAC products and services which will bring additional value to customers.
- Prepare customer proposals (machines and retrofits). Assume responsibility for the presentation, commercial accuracy (pricing, terms and conditions) and final technical review of a customer proposal.
- When requested, participate in sales calls with the sales team to provide technical support in their consulting and selling efforts.
- When appropriate, travel to other MULTIVAC facilities to keep current with new product offerings and processes and to build strong relationships with colleagues in the Sales Support, Engineering and Manufacturing departments.
- Stay current with new applications in Canada and worldwide; and communicate new applications to the sales team.
- Attend and participate in trade shows, sales meetings and other company specified activities.

Education/Experience:
College or university education would be an advantage otherwise a minimum of a high school diploma with two or more years of industry related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Preference is two years technical experience in one or more of the following: capital equipment, packaging materials, or other associated area.
Language Ability:
Bilingual ability (English & French) is an asset. Ability to read, analyse, and interpret or comment on common scientific, technical journals and financial data. Ability to effectively present technical information and respond to questions from colleagues.
Math Ability:
Ability to work with dimensions, figures, and mathematical concepts with the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should ideally have knowledge of Word Processing software; Spreadsheet software; Order processing systems; Internet software, ERP systems, Database software and Contact Management systems.
Certificates and Licenses:
Current valid driver’s license as well as a valid passport to facilitate travel as required by position. Criminal background check is required.
