We take a comprehensive approach by offering more than 180 integrated programs in: Education & Youth Development, Family Support, Job Training & Employment Support Services, Health, Housing, and Legal Services. We reach more than 72,000 individuals and families each year at our 100 locations, including 10,000 youth. CAMBA serves a diverse cross section of New Yorkers from new mothers in Brownsville to job seekers in the Rockaways. More than half of our clients are immigrants and refugees from around the globe. Over 85% of our families live in poverty, reflecting the challenges faced by nearly 1.7 million New Yorkers today.

The CAMBA After-School Program at PS 212 is funded by the New York City Department of Youth and Community Development (DYCD) and other funders, to serve approximately 148 children and youth in grades K-5. Children participate in program activities (such as homework help, conflict resolution, academic enrichment, recreation and creative arts programming) during after school hours and thirteen school holidays
Position: Content Specialist
Reports To: Senior Program Manager
Location: 87 Bay 49th St, Brooklyn, NY 11214

What Does a/the Content Specialist Do:
The person filling this position is expected, under general direction, to: (1) research and develop instructional materials and lesson plans to facilitate staff development workshops; and, (2) provide group and/or individual assistance to staff; including the following:

  • Work with staff on professional development to build their skills in working with students.
  • Update and create library of resource materials such as lesson plans, instruction materials and reference guides for program staff.
  • Manage classrooms and small groups effectively to maximize student learning.
  • Provide formal and informal observations of staff members leading activities with children and offer professional feedback and support.
  • Work one-on-one with staff members who need additional professional support and guidance.
  • Model and teach effective classroom management strategies for staff.
  • Model and teach effective strategies for homework assistance to staff.
  • Research and develop instructional materials and lesson plans to facilitate staff development workshops.
  • Facilitate staff development workshops.
  • Serve as liaison between school and program regarding homework assistance, academic issues, and discipline procedures.
  • Communicate with EYD leadership on issues related to student and/or staff progress.
  • Observe afterschool staff engaging with participants.
  • Assist in the analysis of program and demographic data to make programmatic improvements.
  • Additional duties as needed.

  • Masters Degree in education or a related field



Compensation: -$55.00 an hour
When salary ranges are listed, the range would represent the low and high end for the applicable position & program. The salary offered would be based on various factors unique to each program and candidate. This includes but is not limited to experience, education, budget and/or program size, internal equity, skills and other factors that may be required for the position and organization.

Status: -Seasonal
