About the role

  • The Project Engineer / Job Coordinator supports valve repair and testing projects within the nuclear energy market. This role serves as the primary interface between customers and the NWS team, ensuring technical clarity, schedule performance, and high-quality service execution.
  • This position requires strong communication skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities, and the technical aptitude to support engineering and field activities. Reporting to the Vice President of Engineering, this role operates with a high degree of autonomy as project lead and plays a vital part in maintaining NWS’s reputation for reliable, high-quality service.

1. Project Execution & Customer Interface

Serve as the primary point of contact between NWS and its customers, owning project requirements from purchase order receipt through final delivery to ensure schedule, quality, and customer satisfaction.

Customer Relationship Management

• Serve as the primary interface between customers and the NWS team throughout the project lifecycle

• Build strong customer relationships and uphold NWS’s reputation for reliable, high-quality service

• Communicate project status, schedule risks, and technical issues proactively and transparently

Purchase Order & Requirements Management

• Review customer purchase orders and ensure all requirements are understood and met during work execution

• Clarify technical and contractual requirements with customers before work begins

• Advocate for project needs and raise schedule risks, technical issues, and other constraints early

Schedule & Delivery Performance

• Manage multiple projects simultaneously with a high degree of autonomy

• Track project milestones and ensure on-time delivery of services and documentation

• Prioritize effectively across competing demands while maintaining quality standards

2. Engineering & Technical Support

Perform the engineering and technical work that supports NWS’s valve repair, testing, and field service operations, ensuring all work meets customer specifications and regulatory requirements.

Valve Engineering & Technical Execution

• Perform engineering and technical tasks related to valve operation, repair, and testing

• Apply technical knowledge to troubleshoot issues and support field service activities

• Ensure all technical work is performed in accordance with customer and regulatory requirements

Procedures & Work Package Development

• Generate internal procedures, work packages, and supporting paperwork for project execution

• Ensure work packages are complete, accurate, and compliant with NWS and customer requirements

• Maintain attention to detail in reviewing and generating technical documentation

3. Cross-Functional Coordination & Documentation

Coordinate across all functional areas to ensure seamless project execution, and maintain the documentation and compliance standards required in a nuclear-regulated environment.

Cross-Functional Support & Coordination

• Provide cross-functional support to Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Logistics

• Coordinate resources and activities across departments to keep projects on track

• Demonstrate flexibility in work hours, department assignments, and schedule demands

Documentation & Compliance

• Assemble and review documentation to ensure compliance with NWS and customer requirements

• Operate within a highly regulated quality environment and maintain documentation standards

• Ensure all project records are complete, accurate, and audit-ready

Continuous Improvement & Team Development

• Promote continuous improvement in processes and project execution

• Drive team engagement and support team members’ development

• Identify and implement opportunities to improve efficiency and service quality

Qualifications

• BS/BSc degree in Engineering preferred; other degrees or relevant experience may be considered

• Strong interpersonal communication skills in both customer-facing and technical environments

• Ability to autonomously manage multiple projects with competing priorities

• Demonstrated attention to detail with reviewing and generating technical documentation

• Strong critical thinking, problem-solving ability, and technical troubleshooting skills

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic computer skills

• Comfort with coaching and feedback for continuous improvement
