Job Description
The Jewish Federation of Sarasota-Manatee seeks an organized and detail-oriented Part-Time (25 hrs/week) Human Resources Generalist to support the day-to-day administrative and operational functions of the HR department.
Job Summary:
The HR Generalist will be a highly approachable and trusted point of contact for employees, providing guidance and support across a wide range of workplace and employee-relations matters. The successful candidate must have demonstrated experience navigating difficult and sensitive employee conversations, resolving workplace issues, and exercising sound judgment and discretion in confidential matters. This role requires a strong problem solver who can assess situations objectively, identify practical solutions, and confidently address challenging issues when necessary. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, emotional maturity, and the ability to build trust while maintaining appropriate professional boundaries are essential. This position reports to the Chief of Staff (CoS).
Essential responsibilities include:
HR Administration
o Reporting to CoS, serving as his/her HR Business Partner
o Responsible for onboarding and offboarding processes, including new hire orientation, documentation, background searches on new hire, conducting terminations
o Prepare HR-related documents, letters, reports, and correspondence
o Maintain employee personnel files with all records including any and all changes in HRIS and other internal systems.
o Provide guidance and support to employees and mangers in navigating workplace conflicts, fostering effective communication and resolution
o Responsible for implementation of an incentive based performance management process, including development of goals and objectives, success metrics, performance reviews
o Administer annual merit increase process to include benchmarking, increase processing and total compensation report
o Help coordinate employee communications, meetings, and HR initiatives.
o Creates and monitors all JFSM HR related policies
Payroll Support
o Administer accurate processing of timecards for biweekly payroll
o Review employee time records, attendance, PTO, and other payroll-related information for accuracy.
o Coordinate payroll changes, new hires, terminations, deductions, and other employee updates
o Work with CFO to resolve discrepancies and ensure timely processing
Benefits Administration
o Assist with employee benefit enrollment, changes, and termination processes
o Serve as a point of contact for routine employee questions regarding benefits
o Maintain accurate benefits records and assist with open enrollment activities
o Track benefit-related deadlines and required documentation
Key Competencies:
o 2+ years of experience in human resources, HR administration, payroll, benefits, or a related field.
o Experience with payroll and benefits administration
o Proficiency with MS Office & HRIS Systems
o Strong written and verbal communication skills
o Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
o Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to completing tasks.
o HR certification such as PHR, SHRM-CP, or equivalent experience is a plus.
Salary Range: $26/hr - $30/hr depending on experience.
Position is based on 25-hours per week. Employee would be eligible for part time benefit package.
