Summary/Objective:
As a valued member of our team, the Staff Accountant will complete basic accounting tasks. This position will review financial transactions, prepare fiscal statements, generate budget documents, and manage general bookkeeping functions.
Supervisory Responsibilities: No
Essential Functions:
• Accurately record financial transactions, including expenses, revenue, and payroll.
• Update and maintain the general ledger (MS Great Plains).
• Assist with preparation of monthly financial statements, balance sheets, and income statements.
• Analyze financial data to identify trends and provide insights to management.
• Assist with tax payments, returns, and compliance with relevant regulations.
• Assist with accurate tax reporting.
• Collaborate with colleagues, auditors, and other stakeholders.
• Communicate financial information effectively.
Non-Essential Duties:
• Manage paperwork related to the accounting processes.
• Assist with administrative tasks, responding to emails and managing invoices.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
Core Competencies:
• Proficiency in accounting principles (GAAP).
• Detail-oriented and organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
• Adept at problem-solving and critical thinking.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
• Above average proficiency in Excel (vlookups, pivot tables, power pivot tables, index match, etc.)
• Understanding of financial laws and regulations.
• Maintains professional conduct.
• Uphold integrity, confidentiality, and ethical standards.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. General days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, hours to be determined. Not eligible for remote work. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Travel Required: Negligible – as needed
Preferred Education and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, or related field.
• 1+ years of related experience in the construction industry.
• 3+ years of related experience using Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
• Certified Public Accountant, preferred.
• Proficient with Microsoft Suite.
