Job Description
This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for an Engineering Manager - Platform Infrastructure in Canada.
This role sits at the core of a large-scale developer platform organization responsible for building and evolving the cloud and infrastructure foundations that power a global engineering ecosystem. You will lead high-performing teams working on multi-cloud platforms, internal developer tooling, and platform security systems used by thousands of engineers. The environment is highly technical, fast-moving, and deeply collaborative, with strong emphasis on reliability, scalability, and developer experience. You will shape architectural direction while also guiding execution across critical infrastructure domains. The role blends people leadership, systems thinking, and hands-on technical strategy in a context where platform decisions directly impact product velocity and engineering productivity. It also involves driving innovation in automation and AI-enabled infrastructure operations. This is an opportunity to influence how modern cloud-native systems are built and operated at scale.
In this role, you will lead the design, evolution, and operation of large-scale platform infrastructure while guiding a team of engineers responsible for cloud foundations, developer tooling, and platform security. You will define technical strategy and ensure systems are reliable, scalable, secure, and cost-efficient while enabling fast and safe software delivery across the organization.
- Lead and grow an engineering team focused on cloud infrastructure, platform services, and developer experience tooling across multi-cloud environments
- Define technical vision and architectural direction for platform systems that support large-scale engineering and product development
- Own platform security and compliance posture, including identity, access control, secrets management, and supply chain security
- Drive evolution of developer tooling such as CI/CD, build systems, deployment pipelines, and observability frameworks
- Ensure reliability, performance, and cost optimization of distributed systems operating at high scale
- Introduce AI-driven automation and modern engineering practices to improve infrastructure operations and developer workflows
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders including product, security, and engineering leadership to align platform strategy with business goals
- Foster a high-performance engineering culture rooted in curiosity, technical excellence, and continuous improvement
This role requires strong experience leading infrastructure or platform engineering teams, combined with deep technical expertise in cloud environments and distributed systems. You should bring a strong engineering foundation, excellent communication skills, and the ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on technical judgment.
- 3+ years of experience leading engineering teams in platform engineering, infrastructure, or developer tooling environments
- 5+ years of backend or infrastructure engineering experience with strong cloud expertise (AWS and/or GCP)
- Strong understanding of platform security concepts including IAM, secrets management, vulnerability management, and secure software supply chains
- Experience designing and operating large-scale distributed systems with attention to reliability, scalability, and cost trade-offs
- Deep knowledge of modern developer tooling ecosystems including CI/CD pipelines, build systems, and observability platforms
- Familiarity with AI/LLM-driven systems and their application to infrastructure automation and operations
- Strong communication skills with the ability to align technical and non-technical stakeholders around complex trade-offs
- Proven ability to build inclusive, collaborative engineering cultures and mentor high-performing teams
- Competitive compensation package with performance-based incentives
- Equity opportunities and long-term incentive programs
- Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage
- Flexible work arrangements supporting remote and hybrid collaboration
- Professional development and continuous learning opportunities
- Strong focus on work-life balance and employee wellbeing
- Opportunities to work on large-scale, high-impact technical systems
- Inclusive and collaborative engineering culture
