Position Summary

The Commercial HVAC Estimator / Inside Sales Support is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for commercial HVAC projects by performing detailed take-offs from blueprints, plans, and specifications. This role supports the commercial sales team by developing pricing, quotations, and submittals and by coordinating with manufacturers, vendors, and internal stakeholders.

The Commercial HVAC Estimator works in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment and plays a key role in the bid and proposal process. This position is ideal for candidates with HVAC industry experience or technical education who are career-oriented and interested in advancement into Commercial Sales Engineering or Sales Territory Management.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform commercial HVAC take-offs from blueprints, construction drawings, plans, specifications, and Dodge Reports
  • Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for commercial HVAC equipment, materials, and systems
  • Estimate and price commercial construction, replacement, and retrofit projects
  • Develop detailed quotations, bids, proposals, and submittal packages
  • Review bid documents to ensure full understanding of project scope, specifications, and requirements
  • Coordinate with HVAC manufacturers and vendors to obtain pricing, lead times, and technical information
  • Support inside and outside commercial sales representatives throughout the bid and quotation process
  • Participate in sales meetings and collaborate with the commercial sales team as needed
  • Maintain organized and accurate documentation for estimates, quotes, and customer communications
  • Manage multiple estimates simultaneously while meeting strict bid deadlines
  • Provide responsive, professional support to contractors, engineers, and internal stakeholders
  • Ensure all work meets company standards for accuracy, quality, and timeliness
Requirements:

Requirements and Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • HVAC field experience or mechanical construction industry experience
  • HVAC degree or Mechanical Engineering degree preferred but not required
  • Previous experience in commercial HVAC estimating, inside sales, or mechanical systems strongly preferred
  • Experience working with commercial contractors, engineers, or construction documents is preferred

Technical and Computer Skills

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and specifications
  • Proficiency with computers and standard business software (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Experience with estimating, pricing, or order-entry systems preferred
  • Familiarity with HVAC equipment, parts, and systems
