About This Position

Position Description:

Are you a transformational healthcare executive who thrives on scaling operations, driving performance, and leading through complexity?

Our Chief Operating Officer (COO) will serve as a key member of the executive leadership team, overseeing operational performance, quality, and growth across a multi-site behavioral health organization. This role is responsible for driving operational excellence across inpatient psychiatric hospitals, residential treatment programs, and community-based services—while ensuring regulatory compliance, strong financial performance, and exceptional patient outcomes.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide executive oversight of multi-site behavioral health operations, including inpatient, residential, and community-based programs.
  • Drive organizational growth initiatives, including new facility development, service line expansion, and integration of acquisitions.
  • Establish and monitor operational standards, KPIs, and performance metrics to improve patient outcomes, efficiency, and workforce engagement.
  • Maintain full operational accountability for enterprise P&L performance across a $500M+ healthcare organization.
  • Develop and implement scalable operating models to support expansion into new markets and service lines.
  • Standardize processes, policies, and systems across facilities to enhance efficiency, quality, and compliance.
  • Partner with clinical leadership to align operations with evidence-based care and patient-centered outcomes.
  • Collaborate with HR and executive leadership to strengthen workforce engagement, retention, and leadership development.
  • Foster a high-performance culture centered on accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • What We’re Looking For

    Education

  • Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Public Health, or related field (required)
  • Experience

  • Fifteen (15) years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare operations (required)
  • Proven experience managing multi-site healthcare organizations, preferably in behavioral health, inpatient psychiatry, or hospital systems (required)
  • Demonstrated P&L leadership for organizations with $250M+ in annual revenue (required)
  • Track record of improving operational performance, scaling healthcare systems, and leading large interdisciplinary teams (required)
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulatory environments and accreditation standards (e.g., The Joint Commission, CARF) (preferred)
  • Experience in private equity-backed or high-growth healthcare environments (preferred)
  • Licenses & Certifications

  • Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) (preferred)
