Job Description

Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital (NVRH) has an excellent opportunity for a part-time Hearing Instrument Specialist (HIS) in our busy ENT & Audiology practice. The mixed specialty practice includes Ears, Nose & Throat, Audiology, Allergy, Speech-Language Pathology and Palliative Care. The HIS will collaborate with two Otolaryngologists, a PA, an NP, an Audiologist, and a Hearing Instrument Specialist. The HIS focuses on patient-centered hearing amplification care through hearing aid assessments, fittings, repairs, maintenance, cleanings, and education.

What you’ll do day-to-day:

The HIS works in a rewarding role, collaborating with ENT providers and the Doctor of Audiology to support patients by providing hearing amplification services including: hearing aid assessments, fittings, repairs, maintenance, cleaning and education.

In addition to day-to-day hands-on patient care, the HIS is responsible for shared administrative work for the department, including ordering audiology supplies and hearing aids, ensuring verification of hearing aid benefits and using insurance benefit portals, and managing tasks, documentation, calls, and messages.

Qualifications:

  • A current Vermont Hearing Aid Dispensing License
  • Minimum 1–2 years of clinical experience preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal skills that promote effective working relationships with team members and patients.
  • Excellent customer service, confidentiality, and safety/infection control protocols
