Job Description
Job Summary:
This is a hands-on leadership position requiring active participation in daily grinding and production operations while supervising and supporting a 2-3-person 2nd shift team.
Supervisory Responsibilities
· Lead and supervise a 2–3 person grinding team during 2nd shift operations to ensure production, quality, safety, and attendance expectations are met
· Assign daily tasks, monitor workflow and production output, and adjust operations as needed to maximize efficiency and minimize downtime
· Set up, operate, and monitor grinding equipment while occasionally operating baling equipment as needed
· Train, coach, and support employees on equipment operation, safety procedures, company policies, and performance expectations
· Collaborate with management/HR to complete disciplinary actions, corrective action documentation, and performance evaluations
· Troubleshoot equipment and production issues, coordinate preventative maintenance activities, and escalate major concerns when necessary
· Inspect processed materials for contamination, consistency, and overall product quality
· Safely operate forklifts and assist with material handling, staging, and production flow throughout the shift
· Complete production reports, inventory tracking, shift communication, and other required documentation accurately and timely
· Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment while promoting continuous improvement and effective communication across departments

Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or GED required
- > 2 years of manufacturing, recycling, or grinding operation experience preferred
- Forklift experience preferred
- Basic computer and production reporting experience preferred
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk for prolonged periods; use hands and arms to operate machinery and equipment; bend, kneel, crouch, and lift materials throughout the shift; and communicate effectively with employees and supervisors.
The employee must be able to:
- Lift up to 40 pounds
- Work in varying temperatures, humidity, moisture, dust, and dirty environments
- Safely operate forklifts and industrial equipment
- Maintain close and distance vision, depth perception, and peripheral vision necessary for operating machinery and completing documentation
Work Environment
This position works in a manufacturing and recycling facility environment with exposure to moving mechanical equipment, industrial noise, dust, and fluctuating temperatures. Proper PPE must be worn at all times.
