Pay Range: $23-27/hr

Reports to: BBT Production Manager

Position Summary

The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily manufacturing operations to ensure production goals are achieved safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company quality standards. This role provides leadership and direction to machine operators and production staff while promoting a culture of safety, teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement.

The Production Supervisor coordinates production schedules, monitors equipment performance, ensures compliance with safety and environmental standards, and supports the development and performance of the production team. This position plays a key role in maintaining operational efficiency and product quality within the facility.

Key Responsibilities

Production Operations

  • Supervise daily production activities to ensure safe and efficient plant operations.
  • Coordinate production schedules and staffing to meet production targets.
  • Monitor production output, downtime, and equipment performance.
  • Ensure operators follow proper machine setup, operating procedures, and product specifications.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and increase throughput.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop machine operators and production employees.
  • Provide clear direction, training, and support to team members.
  • Monitor employee performance and provide feedback and corrective action when necessary.
  • Promote a positive and collaborative team environment.

Safety and Compliance

  • Ensure strict adherence to all safety policies and procedures.
  • Enforce proper use of PPE and safe operating practices.
  • Ensure compliance with lockout/tagout procedures and equipment safety requirements.
  • Investigate and report safety incidents and near misses.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture throughout the facility.

Quality and Process Control

  • Ensure product quality standards are consistently met.
  • Monitor production processes to ensure materials are processed according to specifications.
  • Address quality issues promptly and work with team members to implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain proper production documentation and reporting.

Equipment and Maintenance Reporting

  • Monitor equipment condition and coordinate with maintenance when repairs are required.
  • Ensure routine inspections and preventative maintenance activities are completed.
  • Work with operators to identify mechanical issues early to minimize downtime.

Administrative and Reporting

  • Maintain accurate production records including output, downtime, and labor utilization.
  • Communicate production performance and operational issues to plant leadership.
  • Support plant initiatives related to efficiency, safety, and continuous improvement.
Requirements:

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree preferred.
  • 3–5 years of experience in manufacturing or industrial operations.
  • Prior leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience in plastics, recycling, or heavy industrial environments is a plus.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of production equipment.
  • Forklift certification (or ability to obtain).

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Frequent lifting up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to bend, climb, and work in a production environment.
  • Exposure to noise, dust, moving equipment, and varying temperatures (PPE provided).
