About This Position
ob descriptionGeneral Position SummaryWe are hiring both day and night shifts. If you prefer nights, you still will need the ability to train on the day shift. Attendance is of utmost importance!The Slitter (Machine Operator) will process metal such as copper and ferrous alloys, into coils or cut-to-length (CTL) based on specified dimensions. Load, unload and package coils or CTL sheets based on customer specifications.Essential FunctionsReview work orders and material tags to identify customer specificationsPackage finished products on pallets per customer specificationsLoad & Unload material on pay-off equipmentBand coils with poly or steel bandingBuild/ modify pallets and custom crates to customer specificationsVerify metal obtained from inventory meets customer specificationsManage, track, and complete assigned work orders including applicable notesAttach identifying tag or labels to materialsMaintain a clean work area, machines, tools, and equipment including placing specified materials into the appropriate hoppers and binsInform leadership of any material or condition issues while maintaining a focus to personal and team quality objectivesExtensive standing/walking, repetitive bending/stoopingQualificationsHigh school diploma or GED equivalent preferred and negative drug screenAbility to read tape measure and verify incoming coilsPrior experience managing customer work orders independentlyAble to convert decimals and fractions, select and utilize proper tooling to perform job functions such as determining overarm setups and achieving target widths using plastic shimsAbility to use PIW chartSlitting experience including selecting appropriate clearance and rubber combos based on alloys and thicknessAbility to utilize computer programs to access process reference documents, work orders, and complete necessary process data entryDemonstrated attention to detail including quality focus, mathematical ability, and safety precautionsMust be able to lift up to 50 pounds and manipulate up to 5000 pounds using over-head cranes and hoistsAble to work safely with machinery and a variety of hazardous chemicals meeting all compliance and safety standardsPerform work outside of normal shift hours as neededMaintain regular and satisfactory attendanceLearn more about ABC Metals here: https://abcmetals.com/about-us/ABC Metals is proud to be a Fair/Second Chance and EEOC employer.
