About This Position

Company Overview:
Function was founded with a singular focus: empower you to live 100 healthy years. We’re doing that by using the best available technology to make sure people don't suffer or die a preventable death. Function has been recognized as one of Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies of 2024, and is venture-backed by Andreessen Horowitz (a16z).

Hundreds of thousands of members have joined Function to take control of their health. We are growing our team and seeking out world-class talent that deeply believes in our mission to positively impact global health, has a relentless bias toward action, and a growth mindset. Function fosters a collaborative and dynamic environment, where every day we are building the future.

The Role:
At Function Health, we’re building an AI-powered member support experience that feels genuinely helpful — and we’re serious about getting it right. This role is for someone who loves spotting patterns, cares about quality, and wants to help shape how AI supports real people.

You’ll spend your time reviewing real member conversations that happen through our AI support experiences. Your job is to catch what’s working, flag what’s not, and help us improve the experience every week — so members get clearer answers, safer guidance, and smoother handoffs to humans when needed.

Key Responsibilities:
You’ll be part detective, part advocate for the member experience:
  • Review AI support conversations and evaluate whether the answers are accurate, clear, and appropriate.
  • Tag and score conversations using a simple set of quality guidelines (we’ll train you on this).
  • Catch problems early — things like wrong info, confusing responses, poor tone, missing context, or cases where the AI should have escalated to a human and didn’t.
  • Spot patterns across lots of conversations (not just one-off issues) and summarize. what you’re seeing.
  • Recommend improvements — like “we should tweak this workflow,” “this needs a better knowledge article,” or “this answer style is confusing members.”
  • Validate fixes after changes go out by re-checking conversations and confirming the issue actually improved.
  • Partner closely with the build team (AI Strategy & Internal Tools Lead + Sr. Build Specialist) so your findings turn into real updates.
  • Flag urgent or sensitive issues fast (anything that could create member harm, clinical risk, or trust issues).

Qualifications/Skills:
You don’t need to be “an AI person.” You do need to be someone who cares about quality, can think like an architect, and is excited to learn AI build methodologies.
  • 3 - 5 years of experience in member support, customer support, care navigation, or a quality/auditing role.
  • Strong written communication skills, with the ability to clearly summarize what happened, why it matters, and what should change.
  • Excellent judgment and attention to detail—able to spot gaps in accuracy, tone, context, and escalation decisions.
  • Comfort with repetitive review work at a steady pace while maintaining consistency and quality.
  • Ability to handle sensitive situations with care and escalate appropriately.
  • Organized, process-oriented, and motivated to continuously improve systems and workflows.
  • Curiosity and willingness to learn AI support workflows and build methodologies (you don’t need to be an “AI person” to succeed here).

Nice to have (not required)
  • Experience doing quality reviews, audits, or troubleshooting workflows
  • Familiarity with healthcare, labs, or clinical language
  • Comfort working with new tools and changing processes
  • Experience spotting patterns in high-volume queues and turning them into improvement ideas

To be a strong fit, you embody our Core Values:
  • Ruthless Prioritization:
    • We don’t let perfect get in the way of progress.
    • We move quickly to drive value, not perfection.
    • We prioritize what drives impact.
    • We never compromise on standards of excellence.
  • Member-First, Always:
    • We design and deliver like we’re caring for someone we love.
    • We create clear, actionable, human experiences.
    • We prioritize responsiveness, peace of mind, and outcomes.
    • We empower members with truth, clarity, and care.
  • One Team, Moving Fast:
    • We are aligned in purpose, prioritization, and speed.
    • We gather diverse perspectives to make informed decisions.
    • We clear paths for each other and move fast together.
    • We communicate clearly and respectfully, rallying around shared goals.
  • Radical Ownership, Relentless Execution:
    • We don’t just ship—we own outcomes and drive results.
    • We act with urgency and precision.
    • We anticipate, initiate, and follow through.
    • We meet challenges with grit and pragmatism.
    • We embrace new tech to deliver better outcomes.
  • Mission Over Ego:
    • We are ruthlessly aligned to our mission—and leave ego at the door.
    • We disagree and commit.
    • We don't tolerate politics or withholding information.
    • We operate with honesty, transparency, and respect.
  • Sustained Integrity in Every Detail:
    • We earn trust by obsessing over accuracy, quality, and clarity in everything we do
    • We prioritize clinical precision—data must be right.
    • We sweat the details because outcomes depend on them.

Why You'll Love Working With Us:
We value our team at Function and offer a competitive salary and benefits package, flexible working hours, and a dynamic work environment where creativity and innovation are encouraged. If you are a highly motivated and experienced individual who is passionate about using technology to improve people’s lives, we would love to hear from you.
