Job Description
SUMMARY: Supports the Shipping Department to ensure shipments on time.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Must have a basic understanding of warehouse procedures.
- Understand the layout of the warehouse and bin location system.
- Gathers materials/product from the warehouse to package/assemble for shipment or customer pick-up.
- Ensures the efficient loading and unloading of all vehicles.
- Verifies accuracy/receipt of loads, shippers, logs, bills of lading.
- Responsible to assure that received, picked and shipped parts are properly identified, counts are accurate, and parts are properly labeled.
- Receives in material and outside service work. Can transact inventory for use in the manufacturing process.
- Capable of efficiently and accurately loading trucks with correct products, counts and space utilization.
- Capable of making decisions balancing cost and service levels related to shipping.
- Coordinating timing of staging loads, organizing trucks, and loading resources throughout the day.
- Must tag and place the incoming material to the proper bin locations in the warehouse for future use.
- Operate a forklift in a safe manner without damaging parts.
- Cycle Counting
- Understand both domestic and international shipping requirements.
- Coordinates/Schedules the shipping of materials with various freight carriers
- Prepare freight claims and follows up as needed.
- Prepares freight quotes to ensure cost effective and efficient means of transportation are used.
- Communicate with customers concerning freight issues.
- Maintains shipment files, issues report and responds to customer inquiries
- Provides guidance within the department for the shipping and warehouse area issues.
- Assists the Accounting/Finance department with billing issues relating to freight.
- Ensure that freight is prepared and packed properly.
- Understands company policies and procedures. Supports a continuous safety awareness attitude and follow all safety policies, procedures and rules.
- Utilizes and practices methods for continuous improvement.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Strong communication skills with experience utilizing Microsoft Teams for internal collaboration.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: High school diploma or general education degree (GED. A minimum of twelve months of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred. Excellent organizational, communication, and typing skills are required. Must have or be able to obtain a forklift operator’s license.
SKILLS: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; basic math skills, effective customer service skills, working knowledge of computer systems and office equipment.
