Position Summary:
The Assistant Dean of Clinical Affairs Operations is the leaderresponsible for overseeing clinical placement, simulation, and staff nurseeducators at the College of Nursing (CON). The position reports directly to theAssociate Dean of Community and Clinical Affairs and is expected to performwith a high level of responsibility and independence.
This is a leadership position, which includes an active role with theDean's Administrative Leadership group; commitment to diversity, equity,inclusion, interprofessional and community engagement. This person will provide a vital role in thedevelopment of nursing students in clinical programs at the undergraduate andgraduate levels, as well as facilitate a culture of effective mentorship. The incumbent is expected to engage inteaching, maintain an active program of scholarship, and service with aconsistent record of funding support appropriate for faculty at the rank ofAssociate Professor or Professor (clinician educator or tenure track).
This individual will work collaboratively with administration acrossthe CON faculty, staff, and students to ensure all students have a productiveclinical experience including simulation. They will be responsible for recruiting appropriate clinical placementsites, ensuring all appropriate agreements are in place and agency requirementsare met for students' rotations within and external to University of NewMexico. This includes negotiatingagreements with agencies throughout the United States and occasionallyoverseas. Ensuring student compliance tomeet state, school, and clinical site requirements. The selected applicant must maintain aprimary residence in the Albuquerque area (including surrounding communitiessuch as Rio Rancho, Los Lunas, Belen, Edgewood, and Santa Fe) and be able toreliably commute to the College of Nursing in Albuquerque.

Responsibilities include:
- Collaborates with the respective assistant deans and faculty regarding clinical placements
- Manages and maintains affiliation agreements/contracts with clinical sites and hospitals
- Manage the relationships with clinical partners from affiliate hospitals, clinics and health network who are responsible for teaching nursing students.
- Identify opportunities to increase the CON's clinical partnerships (predominantly in the southwest) by enhancing and expanding the number and types of placements through outreach and marketing activities
- Oversight of clinical placement data and accrediting bodies reports
- Promote scholarly activity in clinical education and simulation
- Responsible for all aspects of the nursing simulation centers
- Manage and evaluate Clinical Affairs staff including clinical partnerships, simulation, and staff nurse educators
- Provide coaching and mentoring to enhance the internal capabilities of the team
- Required to travel locally, statewide, and nationally
- Support the development and coordination of workshops, seminars and other programs that will benefit community clinical partners
- Facilitate an environment that supports student, staff, and faculty diversity, equity, and inclusion
