MIDWIFERY FACULTY POSITION - OBSTETRICS & GYNECOLOGYUNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO, SCHOOL OF MEDICINE
The University of New Mexico (UNM), School of Medicine (SOM) and HealthSciences Center (HSC) is seeking a full scope nurse-midwife that willcontribute actively to the climate of diversity and inclusivity. We inviteapplications for an Open Rank, Lecturer Track position in Midwifery. UNMObstetrics and Gynecology's Midwifery Division has a busy clinical practice andis active in education.
We are a large midwifery group practice that provides full scope midwifery carewithin the UNM Health System. We are group of diverse and dedicated midwiveswho are passionate about patient care, advocacy, health system improvement, andeducation of the next generation of clinicians. This is a full time clinicalposition within an academic system which includes clinical teaching of avariety of learners. This is not a didactic teaching position. Our role asfaculty within the SOM provides many opportunities for interdisciplinarycollaboration & professional growth based on your interests. New Mexicooffers autonomous midwifery practice, beautiful high desert outdoor adventures,and sunny weather almost every day. Come join us!
The position will manage women's health care, focusing particularly onpregnancy, childbirth, the postpartum period, care of the newborn, and the familyplanning and gynecologic needs of women. The position will practice within thehealth care system incorporating appropriate consultation, collaborativemanagement, or referral, as indicated by the health status of the client. Theposition will practice in accord with the Standards for the Practice ofMidwifery, as defined by the American College of Nurse-Midwives. The candidatehired will be expected to participate in the education and training of studentnurse midwives and other advanced practice providers, medical students,residents and fellows in the clinical setting. Classroom education of theselearners may also be a possibility. This position requires a demonstratedcommitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion; student success; and effectiveengagement with broadly diverse communities.

- Participation in the Certificate Maintenance Program with the American Midwifery Certification Board (or eligible).
- CNM license with New Mexico Department of Health (or eligible)
- RN license with New Mexico Board of Nursing (or eligible).
- State of New Mexico Board of Pharmacy certification and Federal DEA registration (or eligible).
Preferred Requirements:
- Experience teaching adult learners
- Experience working in a multidisciplinary environment
- Interest in participating in clinical research
- At least one year clinical experience working in academic medical center
- A demonstrated commitment to cultivate anunderstanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the successof the university's mission to serve local and global communities.
