Position Summary

The People Operations Specialist supports day-to-day human resources operations and full-cycle recruiting while also managing payroll processing and overseeing general company administration. This role is central to maintaining a positive employee experience and ensuring compliance with company policies and legal requirements. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, approachable, and comfortable balancing HR, payroll, and administrative responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

Human Resources

  • Serve as the first point of contact for employee questions regarding policies, benefits, and HR procedures.
  • Support full-cycle recruitment including job postings, screening, interviewing coordination, and onboarding.
  • Maintain accurate employee records, personnel files, and HRIS data.
  • Assist with performance review cycles, employee relations matters, and corrective action documentation.
  • Coordinate training, compliance programs, and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local employment laws.

Payroll Administration

  • Process biweekly payroll accurately and on schedule.
  • Maintain payroll records, timekeeping data, and employee pay changes.
  • Audit for accuracy.
  • Manage payroll adjustments, garnishments, bonuses, and reimbursements.
  • Collaborate with Finance on payroll reporting, tax filings, and year-end processes (W-2s, 1099s).
  • Serve as the primary contact for employee payroll questions.

Administrative Management

  • Manage all company travel.
  • Manage office supplies, equipment, vendor relationships, and service contracts.
Requirements:

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • 2–5 years of HR experience; payroll processing experience.
  • Familiarity with HRIS and payroll systems (ADP, Paychex, Paylocity, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of employment laws and payroll regulations.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
