Job Summary

The HR Specialist plays an important role in supporting multiple Human Resources functions including new hire onboarding, benefits administration, employee engagement & relations, credentialing, recruitment, training, and more. The successful person in this role will possess a strong understanding of HR practices, willingness to take on new experiences, and the ability to handle confidential matters with discretion and professionalism. Essential qualities include a friendly customer service manner, strong organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities, attention to detail, and a collaborative, team-oriented mindset.

Essential Functions

This section provides a high level summary of the main functions of the HR Specialist position and is not an exhaustive list of all duties required to perform this role.

New Hire Onboarding

Oversee the full HR onboarding process, ensuring a smooth transition for new hires; new hire orientations; new hire documentation entry into HRIS/ATS; I-9 employment verification

Benefits Administration

Assist employees with benefits questions or enrollment issuesAssist employees and process claims for disability leave and workers’ compUnderstand SCA and ACA guidelines

Employee Engagement & Relations

Support employee engagement and relations initiativesAssist with creating and/or publishing employee communicationsProvide guidance to management and employees with company policy and procedure questionsProvide guidance to management for employee issues including performance/conduct concernsInvestigate employee issues and provide conflict resolutionAid with preparation of corrective action plans and performance improvement Complete employment verifications and unemployment claims

Credentialing & Recruitment

Learn the credentialing process and provide support to this functionDevelop and maintain position descriptions; conduct market salary analysis for benchmarkingCoordinate and manage full-cycle recruitment efforts, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, conducting background checks and reference checks, and presenting qualified candidates for internal and contract-based roles

Training

Assign new hire, compliance, and continued education training modules to corporate and field staff as required Assist with the development or publishing of training materials

Additional

Attend company, departmental, functional, and other meetings as scheduled; be fully present and engaging as a representative of the HR departmentPerform data entry and/or employee documentation maintenanceSupport the HR Manager and other functional areas with various tasks, projects, and initiatives as assigned

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration, or a relevant field of study1 to 2 solid years of direct human resources department experience requiredPrior HR experience with the above-mentioned essential functions is strongly preferredPrior HR experience in the healthcare industry and/or government contracting is highly desiredFoundational knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices is requiredKnowledge of Service Contract Act guidelines is highly desiredWorking knowledge of HCM/HRIS and ATS applications is a must; ADP, Crelate, Nexus are a plusStrong proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite or similar office operating programs is a mustProficiency using Excel or a similar spreadsheet application is required Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulationsAbility to write business correspondence in a clear and professional manner Ability to effectively present information in a clear and professional mannerExcellent verbal and written communication skills

Accountability

This is a remote position and will be performed out of the employee’s home-based office. Expected Hours of Work

Your work schedule may vary depending on your position with the Company. Our corporate business hours are Monday through Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm Eastern. Your start time should be discussed and approved by your immediate supervisor if you wish to deviate from the normal operating hours. Employees may be required to work additional hours in order to successfully complete work obligations. Non-exempt employees are required to obtain prior approval from their immediate supervisor before working overtime.
