Job Description

Sr. Manager, Marketing Systems & Automation

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr. Manager, Marketing Systems & Automation based in the United States.

This role sits at the intersection of marketing strategy, technology, data, and automation, helping build a next-generation MarTech environment.
You will lead omnichannel campaign execution while turning complex business and brand requirements into scalable, measurable marketing workflows.
The position combines hands-on campaign development with ownership of automation, systems governance, data quality, and AI-enabled marketing capabilities.
You will collaborate closely with product marketing, creative, content, data, and technology teams to deliver impactful customer experiences.
A key part of the role is evolving manual processes into governed, supervised automation with thoughtful human oversight.
You will also help establish standards, coach stakeholders, and ensure marketing systems remain reliable, well-documented, and ready to scale.
This is an opportunity to shape how modern, data-driven and AI-assisted marketing operates across a growing organization.

Accountabilities
  • Partner with product marketing, creative, and content teams to design and execute omnichannel campaigns across owned platforms, translating positioning and brand requirements into audience segments, channels, customer journeys, and measurable KPIs.
  • Build, deploy, test, and supervise automated and AI-assisted marketing workflows and internal tools, ensuring appropriate human oversight and reliable execution.
  • Own campaign design and execution standards from initial brief through launch and post-campaign performance analysis, maintaining clear accountability for agreed-upon objectives.
  • Maintain and continuously improve the MarTech stack, including documentation, administrative tools, system standards, and operational best practices.
  • Coach and train partner teams on marketing systems, automation capabilities, campaign execution practices, and emerging AI tools.
  • Support the development of the customer data foundation in collaboration with Salesforce and Databricks stakeholders, ensuring campaign segmentation and measurement are supported by accurate, well-governed data.
  • Serve as a steward of marketing data, applying sound judgment around data sensitivity, privacy, consent, and appropriate disclosure.
  • Establish and enforce campaign taxonomy, naming conventions, UTM governance, campaign hierarchy, and other operational standards without creating unnecessary bottlenecks.
  • Develop campaign and channel performance reporting, turning data into actionable insights and recommendations for optimization.
  • Evaluate new marketing technologies and support the migration of existing campaigns, audiences, and workflows to improved platforms when appropriate.
  • Help build the context, content, data assets, and operational foundations required for effective AI-assisted marketing.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes through automation, internal tools, and scalable workflows, driving adoption across partner teams.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • 7–9 years of experience in marketing operations, marketing automation, lifecycle marketing, database marketing, or a closely related discipline.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading complex marketing and technology projects from concept through completion.
  • Hands-on experience owning a marketing automation or campaign execution platform, including audience construction, journey development, quality assurance, and deliverability fundamentals.
  • Working knowledge of SQL, HTML, and common marketing operations code, with the ability to validate, troubleshoot, and assess both manually created and AI-generated outputs.
  • Demonstrated experience creating an automation, internal tool, or workflow beyond assigned responsibilities that was subsequently adopted by other teams.
  • Experience using AI tools in production marketing environments and an interest in developing practical AI capabilities for marketing operations.
  • Ability to translate business, customer, and brand requirements into explicit, testable rules and scalable operational processes.
  • Strong understanding of campaign taxonomy, naming standards, UTM governance, campaign hierarchy, and marketing data management.
  • Sound judgment regarding data privacy, sensitive information, consent, and disclosure, ideally within a regulated or consumer-facing environment.
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking abilities, with the curiosity to investigate conflicting information and distinguish stated requests from underlying business needs.
  • Excellent project management and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage competing requests, meet deadlines, and influence stakeholders laterally and upward.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with confidence communicating with stakeholders at all organizational levels.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment while working with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Experience in a regulated industry is preferred.
  • Experience migrating campaigns, audiences, journeys, consent and preference states, suppression lists, and historical engagement data between enterprise marketing automation platforms is a plus.
Benefits
  • Competitive annual compensation of $125,000–$135,000, plus bonus.
  • Opportunity to shape a next-generation MarTech environment built around data, automation, and AI.
  • High-impact role with significant ownership over marketing systems, campaign execution, and operational standards.
  • Opportunity to collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, creative, content, data, and technology teams.
  • Exposure to modern marketing, data, automation, and AI technologies.
  • Opportunity to develop scalable workflows and tools that improve marketing efficiency and performance.
  • Collaborative environment that values creativity, analytical thinking, autonomy, and continuous improvement.
  • Opportunity to contribute to marketing initiatives supporting sustainable solutions and broader social impact.
