Senior Accountant

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Accountant based in Canada.

This role offers the opportunity to take ownership of accounting operations supporting U.S.-based clients in a fast-moving environment.
You’ll manage core accounting activities while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and reliable financial reporting.
The position combines hands-on accounting expertise with client relationship management and process improvement.
You’ll work with modern accounting and collaboration tools, including QuickBooks Online and integrated financial applications.
Success in this role requires sound judgment, adaptability, and the ability to operate effectively in evolving startup environments.
You’ll also have opportunities to identify efficiencies, explore emerging technologies, and improve accounting workflows.
It’s an ideal opportunity for an experienced accountant who enjoys ownership, autonomy, and meaningful client impact.

Accountabilities
  • Manage the full accounting cycle for U.S.-based clients, including account reconciliations, month-end close, and financial reporting.
  • Apply sound startup accounting practices while balancing financial accuracy, compliance requirements, resource constraints, and changing priorities.
  • Make informed financial judgments in fast-paced and less structured environments while maintaining high standards of accuracy and integrity.
  • Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, expense management, and vendor and client interactions.
  • Manage accounting workflows and maintain strong relationships with external stakeholders and clients.
  • Integrate and optimize third-party applications with QuickBooks Online to improve accounting processes and operational efficiency.
  • Use tools such as QuickBooks Online, Slack, Google Sheets, Google Docs, Zoom, Google Meet, and Google Drive in daily operations.
  • Work with additional platforms such as Rippling, Brex, Bill.com, ClickUp, Gusto, and Ramp as needed.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage emerging technologies and AI applications to improve accounting efficiency and processes.
Requirements
  • 3–5 years of accounting experience supporting U.S.-based companies; CPA certification is preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. accounting practices and startup accounting principles.
  • Demonstrated experience managing external stakeholders, ideally within a public accounting or client-facing environment.
  • Proven ability to make sound financial decisions and judgments in dynamic, fast-changing, and less structured environments.
  • Strong proficiency with QuickBooks Online, Slack, Google Sheets, Google Docs, Zoom, Google Meet, and Google Drive.
  • Experience integrating external applications with QuickBooks Online; familiarity with Rippling, Brex, Bill.com, ClickUp, Gusto, or Ramp is highly desirable.
  • Awareness of AI applications and emerging technologies in accounting is a plus.
  • Full professional fluency in English, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain financial concepts clearly to non-finance professionals.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, particularly across digital and asynchronous work environments.
  • Proactive, solutions-oriented approach with strong organization, time management, independent problem-solving, and follow-through.
  • High level of ownership, adaptability, integrity, curiosity, and willingness to act decisively in changing circumstances.
  • Ability to work within the North American time zone.
Benefits
  • Competitive salary paid in USD, based on experience.
  • Unlimited paid vacation days each year.
  • U.S. national holidays included.
  • Fully remote work with the flexibility to work from anywhere in the world, provided you can work within the required time zone.
  • Professional and collaborative environment with opportunities to learn, grow, and make a meaningful impact.
  • Exposure to modern accounting technologies, financial platforms, and emerging AI applications.
  • Supportive remote culture and collaboration across distributed teams.
