SUSHI CHEF — TACOMA, WA
Trapper’s Sushi is hiring a Sushi Chef for our Tacoma location!
If you have sushi experience, we’d love to talk to you. Sushi experience is preferred, but it is not required — if you’re a strong cook with solid kitchen skills, good knife skills, and the ability to learn quickly, we’re willing to train the right person.
Pay & Earning PotentialSushi Chef: $19.75–$22.75/hour + tips
We’re willing to pay within the full range based on experience, skill level, and demonstrated ability.
TIP EARNING POTENTIAL: Team Members in tipped positions working full-time can typically earn an estimated additional $2–$3/hour in tips.*
That means total earning potential can reach approximately $21.75–$25.75/hour depending on base rate and tips.

- Has sushi experience OR strong professional cooking and knife skills
- Is comfortable working in a fast-paced kitchen environment
- Is willing and able to learn Trapper’s Sushi recipes, techniques, and standards
- Works well as part of a team
- Maintains strong food safety, cleanliness, and sanitation standards
- Is dependable and ready to work in a high-volume restaurant environment
- Wants an opportunity to develop their skills and grow with the company

Requirements:The Physical Stuff
- Restaurant-based position performed in a busy kitchen and guest-facing sushi bar.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
- Ability to perform repetitive chopping, cutting, rolling, plating, reaching, and grasping motions.
- Ability to regularly bend, reach, twist, push, and pull.
- Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 30 pounds.
- Ability to safely operate knives and other commercial kitchen equipment.
- Ability to work around varying temperatures, food allergens, raw seafood, sharp tools, wet surfaces, and moderate-to-high noise levels.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and variable shifts based on business needs.
- Ability to perform the essential functions of the position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
