Job Overview

The purpose of this position is to participate in offering to our guests an outstanding dining experience. Part of your job is to assist the cooks in preparing the dishes for our guests, do the prep for the day, bring in wood, cleaning tasks, wash dishes, glassware, trays etc - according to our lists, rules and procedures. You will work with other kitchen staff to maintain a clean kitchen, close and/or open the restaurant, and store ingredients properly.

General Responsibilities

  • Opening and closing duties, including: storing all reusable goods, breaking down goods, cleaning all equipment and areas, returning equipment to proper locations, locking refrigerators, restocking items, turning off lights, locking doors, and completing daily cleaning checklist; Set up, stock, and maintain work areas; Inspect the cleanliness and presentation of all china, glass, and silver prior to use; Maintain cleanliness of work areas throughout the day, practicing clean-as-you-go procedures (including restroom, server area, parking lot, etc)
  • Help the server close if necessary with: sweeping, mopping and/or other cleaning tasks
  • Ensure optimal level of sanitation, health and safety standards in work areas at all times
  • Monitor and maintain a clean working area and clean cooking surfaces to make pizzas, salads, pasta and all other food products we serve
  • Check expiration date and quality of the products daily and follow the appropriate procedure
  • Assist the cooks in preparing the food items for the guests, especially salads and desserts
  • Handle the food properly, following the law and the internal policies of the restaurant
  • Knowing all the ingredients and products the restaurant offers: What they are, how to prepare them for cooking
  • Preparing all the food item by following the restaurant policies and recipes precisely
  • Washing, cutting and preparing foods designated for cooking
  • Report accidents and unsafe work conditions to manager
  • Monitoring and ensuring exact measurement of all ingredients for all food items
  • Filling in for absent staff as needed
  • Assisting with special events as needed
  • Working with other colleagues as a team player
  • Cleaning, stocking and restocking workstations and display cases
  • Following all rules, policies and procedures precisely
  • Accomplishing the shift lists and any other job duties as requested by Supervisors, Shift Leads and/or Manager
  • Participating in all meetings scheduled by the manager
  • Cleaning all food preparation areas, cooking surfaces, and utensils
  • Protecting the establishment and guests by adhering to sanitation, safety, and alcohol beverage control policies
  • Staying updated with rules, policies and procedures by using our internal channel of communication
  • Washing and sanitizing the dishes, silverware, trays, glassware--everything that needs to be done
  • Taking order to the table if the server asks for help due to the high number of clients
  • Restocking wood for our wood-fired oven
  • Holding the other employees accountable for any breaking of the rules and procedures & to let the management team know if the problem persists
  • Reporting to the manager any problem that appears in the kitchen, on the floor or any other part of the restaurant
  • Participating in keeping a friendly and fun working environment--Treating the other colleagues, suppliers and guest with respect
  • This position responds to the “Shift Lead” and “The Manager”

Job Qualifications

  • Positive interpersonal skills required
  • Availability to work in the week-ends, holidays and overtime
  • Must be able to stand, walk, lift and bend for up to 8 hours a day
  • Must speak English fluently and be able to write basic English
  • Ability to lift heavy trays filled with glassware/food
  • Pre-employment drug screening required
  • Able to follow all the rules, procedures established by the management team
  • Hand-Eye Coordination: You will work with knives and must have excellent technique when cutting and preparing food
  • Time Management Skills

Payment:

  • You will be paid twice a month. The rate pay is $18.13 + tips to get to a minimum of $22.5/hour.
