Compliance Officer

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Compliance Officer in Canada.

This role plays a key part in supporting the compliant growth and ongoing operations of a fast-scaling digital gaming and sports betting platform entering the Canadian market. You will sit at the intersection of compliance, product, marketing, and operations, ensuring regulatory requirements are met while enabling the business to move quickly and safely. The position involves interpreting evolving gambling regulations and translating them into practical, scalable internal processes. You will help shape responsible gambling, AML, and player protection frameworks while reviewing customer-facing journeys and marketing activity. Acting as the first dedicated compliance hire in the region, you will have a high level of ownership and influence over foundational compliance structures. The environment is fast-paced, collaborative, and highly iterative, requiring strong judgment and adaptability. This is a remote role based in Ontario, Canada.

Accountabilities:

You will be responsible for building and maintaining compliance frameworks that support regulatory alignment, risk mitigation, and safe player experiences across all operational areas.

  • Monitor and interpret Canadian gambling regulations, including AGCO and iGaming Ontario requirements
  • Review and approve marketing campaigns, promotions, and player communications for compliance alignment
  • Support responsible gambling and player protection initiatives across product and operational touchpoints
  • Assist in AML and financial crime compliance processes and controls
  • Review product features and user journeys to assess regulatory and compliance impact
  • Support audits, regulatory reporting, and ongoing compliance obligations
  • Maintain compliance documentation, governance tracking, and internal control frameworks
  • Partner with Product, Marketing, Engineering, and Operations teams to embed compliance-by-design principles
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate regulatory and operational compliance risks
  • Provide clear, pragmatic compliance guidance to cross-functional stakeholders
Requirements:

This role requires experience in regulated iGaming or betting environments, along with strong knowledge of compliance frameworks and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, cross-functional setting.

  • Experience working in regulated iGaming, sportsbook, or gambling environments
  • Strong understanding of Canadian gambling regulations, particularly Ontario (AGCO and iGaming Ontario)
  • Experience reviewing marketing, promotions, and customer communications from a compliance perspective
  • Knowledge of responsible gambling and player protection standards
  • Exposure to AML and financial crime compliance processes
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across diverse teams
  • High attention to detail and structured problem-solving capabilities
  • Ability to thrive in fast-moving, high-growth, and evolving environments
Benefits:

This position offers a flexible and supportive work environment with core employee wellbeing and long-term planning benefits.

  • Private healthcare coverage for employees’ health and wellbeing
  • Pension scheme to support long-term financial planning
  • Tenure-based additional leave, increasing up to 30 days annually after five years
  • Flexible working arrangements with a fully supported home office setup
  • Opportunity to shape compliance foundations in a newly expanding market
  • Exposure to a high-growth, product-driven, international environment
  • Inclusive workplace culture committed to diversity, equity, and accessibility
  • Reasonable accommodation available throughout the hiring process.
