Welding & Assembly Production Lead in Temple, Texas at Texas Hydraulics Inc

Texas Hydraulics is looking for a hands-on lead to coordinate production from welding through final assembly. In this role, you’ll help keep work moving to schedule, support weld quality, train welders, and maintain accurate material and work order records. You’ll provide day-to-day direction to employees on the line while continuing to perform welding and other production work.

• Assign and coordinate work across welding, robotic welding, and assembly to meet production schedules.

• Perform manual welding, support robotic welding operations, and complete first-piece checks.

• Train and coach new and current employees on welding processes, work instructions, weld quality, and safe work practices.

• Evaluate welding skills, document training results, and help employees prepare for AWS D1.1 certification testing.

• Review welds for conformance to specifications and work with Quality and Welding Engineering to address recurring issues.

• Monitor materials and welding supplies, initiate replenishment, and help prevent shortages on the line.

• Complete inventory counts and record material usage, work order completions, scrap, and returns in the ERP system.

• Identify production or equipment issues, coordinate with other departments, and recommend improvements to safety, quality, and efficiency.

This is a lead position without direct supervisory authority. You’ll direct and coach day-to-day work and bring performance or conduct concerns to the supervisor.

• High school diploma or GED and at least two years of related welding or assembly experience.

• Ability to demonstrate welding proficiency through a pre-employment weld test.

• Ability to read blueprints, weld symbols, work instructions, and safety procedures.

• Ability to train and communicate with employees at different skill levels.

• Basic computer skills for ERP transactions and training records.

You must be able to complete AWS D1.1 certification within 12 months of hire. An associate degree or technical school education is preferred.

This is a hands-on position in a manufacturing environment with moving equipment, welding fumes, heat, and noise. The work involves regular standing and walking and regularly lifting or moving up to 50 pounds.
