Job Description

Function & Responsibility

Oversee the receipt and movement of released work orders to all necessary production, inspection, and test areas as subassemblies or end items are manufactured. Provide inputs to shipment schedules, plans, and forecasts as knowledge of production status develops. Identify any bottlenecks in the production flow and ensure that necessary labor, material, or support is applied to relieve the bottleneck.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the generation of the production build plan and issues the plan to the assembly, inspection and test areas.
  • Reviews the plan at regular intervals and expedites critical jobs.
  • Prioritize schedules to support end item build plans.
  • Keeps status/progress records of work orders updated continuously during the movement of these materials between the various functional areas.
  • Conducts daily operations sheets for revision control for those work orders in process using the routing change report.
  • Expedites material shortages via the production planning and scheduling sections of material control for those work orders that are not issued "short free" or replacement materials.
  • Identifies and addresses the need for concentrated or additional work effort in any bottleneck area.
  • Solves problems and conducts responsibilities (following manual guidelines), as long as the production plan is met and the cost center is operated within approved budgets.
  • Recommend changes to management of operations and material control manuals.
  • Create, manage and support recognition and communication that fosters an environment of teamwork for associates and peers.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Company policies and procedures. Additional responsibilities will include interviewing, training and motivating employees; planning, assigning and directing work; rewarding and disciplining employees; resolving conflicts
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Skilled in communicating effectively, both verbally and in writing, and in developing and maintaining positive relations with others.
  • Proficient in PC computer software.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business management or related discipline, or a combination of education and related work experience
  • 5-7 years of experience in handling the responsibilities outlined above
  • At least one (4) year of experience supervising or managing others.
