This role is a senior technical leadership opportunity focused on shaping and delivering complex interconnection studies across major North American markets, with an emphasis on ISO New England and NYISO territories. You will act as both a subject matter expert and a strategic advisor, supporting clients navigating generation, load, and transmission interconnection challenges. The position combines deep technical execution with leadership responsibilities, including mentoring engineers and strengthening delivery capabilities. You will work closely with internal teams and senior stakeholders to improve methodologies, QA/QC standards, and project outcomes. In parallel, you will contribute to business growth through client engagement, RFP support, and thought leadership activities. This is a highly impactful role for someone who thrives in solving complex power system problems and influencing industry direction.
- Lead and execute advanced load, generation, and transmission interconnection studies aligned with ISO and utility methodologies, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and high technical rigor across deliverables.
- Perform model benchmarking and validation for generation and load projects, ensuring alignment with evolving regulatory and technical requirements.
- Serve as a senior subject matter expert on interconnection frameworks, staying current with ISO-NE, NYISO, and broader industry and regulatory developments.
- Strengthen internal delivery frameworks by improving QA/QC processes, technical standards, and execution efficiency across projects.
- Mentor and develop a small team of engineers, fostering technical excellence, accountability, and strong client-facing capabilities.
- Support client engagement by translating complex study results into actionable insights and strategic recommendations.
- Contribute to business development activities including RFP responses, scope definition, and development of new service offerings and tools.
- Represent the organization in industry forums, technical discussions, and publications to reinforce thought leadership.
- 8+ years of experience in the electric power industry, with strong expertise in transmission planning, interconnection studies, or related power system analysis.
- Direct experience working with ISO New England, NYISO, or utilities within these footprints, or consulting in these environments.
- Hands-on experience with multiple study types such as deliverability, cluster studies, load interconnection studies, and benchmarking exercises.
- Strong expertise in power system modeling and simulation, with proficiency in tools such as PSS/E, PSCAD, PSLF, PowerWorld, TARA, and ASPEN.
- Experience in IBR modeling, load modeling, and EMT studies is highly valued.
- Strong understanding of interconnection standards, procedures, and regulatory frameworks in Northeast markets.
- Proven ability to bridge technical depth with commercial and strategic decision-making.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders and operate effectively in uncertain or complex environments.
